Update: David Jonsson (Alien: Romulus, The Long Walk) is playing a grown up version of T’Challa and Nakia’s son, who inherits the Black Panther mantle.
Ladies and gentlemen and fellow nerds, Ryan Gosling is officially Ghost Rider! Directed by Shawn Levy
Not at SDCC this year, but living vicariously through the folks who are. Here’s a picture from my first time in 2019, where I ran into none other than Jim Starlin (co-creator of Thanos and writer of the Infinity Gauntlet!)
Without saying your age, what's your favourite movie that came out when you were 18?
THE ODYSSEY is a true work of art. Easily one of Nolan’s top three films, it’s a meditation on the costs of war both in body and spirit, and a reminder that some stories still have plenty of life left in them. 10/10 big-ass wooden horses. Definitely see it in IMAX!
Snagged one of the last tickets to a morning showing of THE ODYSSEY. Let’s see what the hype is about.
My friend shared this with me and I feel I have to share it with all my fellow X-Men fans.
QTP with a Sword ⚔️ Once again I must remind you all that I’m a YuGiOh fan and that Buster Blader is my favorite card.
The first thing I can ever remember seeing Sam Neill in was the MERLIN TV movie, where he knocked it out of the park and sparked my lifelong love of Arthurian lore. Rest well, sir. You were a force to be reckoned with and if there was actual magic in this world you’d be making more movies.
So it looks like Marvel’s next Premier Collections will be SECRET WARS (2015) and AVENGERS: TIME RUNS OUT in August. That’s actually genius marketing - want to read the stuff that inspired Doomsday? Here’s a head start!
Thinking of this page from Rick Remender and Carlos Pacheco’s Captain America run today.
Currently reading Greg Rucka and Marco Checchetto’s Punisher and holy shit it’s so good. Love how they depict Frank Castle as a man of few words to the people that meet him and an unholy shadow of death to the criminal element.
Well here’s a fun flashback: in 2018 there was a small con hosting a lot of the Avengers: Infinity War cast, and Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie were there. So technically I’ve been in the same room as Spider-Man and Captain America.
Also Black Lightning. A character who’s a father, teacher, and superhero? Plenty of material there. Insane he’s never carried a long running series tbh
I also gotta give Jason Momoa props, he brought Lobo to life perfectly. I wasn’t a Lobo fan and I wanted more.
Just finished watching SUPERGIRL! Let me get the good out of the way first: Milly Alcock is very, very good as Kara. She portrays someone who’s dealing with a lot of pain, and covers it in a lot of layers, but always comes off as compelling. Hats off.
For no particular reason I feel compelled to bring this up. (Original posts courtesy of @filmbrainbmb.bsky.social)
The past two weeks of reading and reviewing comics for @aiptcomics.com reminded me…
Last year at Emerald City Comic Con, I actually managed to get into a panel with him and he’s just as incredible up close as you’d imagine.
Happy Father’s Day to my dad, who taught me to chase my dreams, introduced me to all the geeky stuff I love, and one of the few people on the planet I can be open with.
Yeah, The Furious is just as good as everyone’s saying. I have NEVER seen action that raw, that bloody, or that captivating.
So I’m currently reading the Iron Man run by Mike Grell (same writer-artist behind Green Arrow: Longbow Hunters). And I’m pretty sure Jon Favreau is a fan because this is the storyline where Tony reveals he’s Iron Man to the world. It also introduces FRIDAY. And it’s really good!
It’s Juneteenth. Post your favorite Black fictional character.
The Infinity Gauntlet. A pure cosmic epic from beginning to end, has some deep thoughts about life and mortality, gets in some good moments for Marvel heroes and villains, and every page is a true work of art.
DISCLOSURE DAY is pure Spielberg magic from beginning to end. Less a sci fi story and more a story about how it’s important to hear (and share) truth. 9/10, a must see in IMAX.
I haven’t dived into a manga in a while, but 90’s setting + enemies to lovers + MTG was a must have.
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE is a delight. It didn’t shy away from how campy the OG series was, but it’s not sneering at it either - all the swords, sorcery and hi tech is there. Galitzine is surprisingly good as Adam, Elba steals the show as Man-at-Arms.
Okay, comicsky, let’s do this: Show me your comics taste in 4 different comics.
One of the main reasons I decided to cover Fan Expo Denver is that Sam Witwer would be attending. How could I pass up the chance to be in the same room as Darth Maul himself?!
