I have a picture of my FC room but I ripped out the back half for honestly no good reason. I wanted to try something and it's a disaster. Anyhow here's how it looked before

My FC room. Designed for socializing and a handy place to sleep if things run late. A large dark room with tufted leather Chesterfields, a long table, bookshelves, and a sleeping loft built in final fantasy xiv.

so i'm usually fixated on a game and the torch has shifted to final fantasy xiv, much to the delight of my local friends. I have my own room in the guildhouse and I'm in the midst of decorating it. tax:

So I don't know what to say about this book. Ten years after Saeldian ditched Kell in Baldur's Gate, they're back together for one last job Kell will get everything he ever wanted. Saeldian will lose everything they have except the power that keeps them safe--but it's the least they can do for him.

some people were asking what this meant. i actually said it on tumblr but here it is

I tell myself: "I'm the owner of the company. But more importantly, I'm also the head of Scriveners Local 23, and I have some demands."

So what that means is that I have a four day work week. I work monday-tuesday and then Thursday-Friday. Fuck the boss if they don't like it.

I have a workplace wellness program that means I can take breaks for yoga, meditation, exercise, and naps.

I have unlimited paid personal days thanks to my project oriented work structure--I get to decide what's the best balance between production and restoration. Fuck the boss if they don't like it.

I have five days each quarter for vacation. attending a convention, conference, expo, bookstore event tour, or a writing workshop *is not a vacation.* that's business-related travel. taking a day or two for a weekend jaunt *is not a vacation.* that's unlimited paid personal days. Five working days. Each Quarter. Vacation. and since I always have Wednesdays off, it doesn't count.

I know there's a piece of your brain saying "I have to hustle, I have to hustle"

I know

My brain does that too

And without the union boss in my head, I'll just work until I drop. That's what I did for years. And then I burnt out so bad that this is the first time I have actually made real, noticeable progress(1.) similar to my pre-burnout rates in years.

Because the union boss went on strike, and the boss' bottom line was *destroyed.* If I have to crunch now, the union boss enforces recovery time. that's all overtime. but since I don't get paid a wage, I get all that back in time.

The boss never wants to see a strike like that again.

There is power in a union, even if it's only the union in your head.

(1.) only it's not similar. it's half the "speed" of pre-burnout. It's probably my actual true real speed and not my sweatshop labour hustle culture speed. FUCK THE BOSS IF THEY DON'T LIKE IT.

all my steam games work on linux. I'm messing around in world of warcraft right now. I use something other than the steam launcher to run FFXIV, though and the UI is...a lot like windows 7.

Hey, do you remember hearing that Pam Bondi said she'd pull ICE out of Minnesota if they handed over their full voter information? have you seen this map?

A map of the USA including Alaska and Hawaii. States are colored in according to this key:

Yellow States have been Sued for not providing complete voter list, including driver’s license numbers and partial Social Security numbers.
Green States Have not provided any voter list.
Blue States Provided publicly available version of voter list or instructions on how to obtain it.
Red States Provided complete voter list, including driver’s license numbers and partial Social Security numbers.
Orange States Received other requests from DOJ, but no request for voter lists.
Gray States have either not had any requests or there is no data.

I keep thinking about this book Don't Bite The Sun, which was published in 1977 and then someone I know shared this exact passage yesterday:

Pathetic, really. I thought City Planning sounded promising. Actually what happens is this: The Committee does a survey, for instance, and finds how the air traffic going to the Adventure Palace gets in a jam near the Time tand Space Monument. So the Committee draws up a report saying this is because of the queue of bird-planes waiting to drop into the Monument nets, and how about making them a special bridge to go and queue on, which will get them out of everyone else's way. This comes through on a computer and is translated by another computer, after which the message is given to the Older Person, officially designated Planner. Swooning at his exhilarating task, he digs up an assortment of suitable machines and programs them to work out the best way ithe bridge should be built, of what, when, how traffic should be diverted meanwhile, etc. Then, proudly bearing the machines' mathematics, color proposals, artistic balance directions and sign posting arrangements in paws clammy with enthusiasm, he trundles off to another machine park, gets a robot to feed the instructions into the relevant computer, and palpitatingly watches metal apparatus go to work making the diversion bridge. And they really kid themselves they've made something, this lot.

I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

I finally tried making a mash of whole grains for my bread. i used a 12 grain cereal for the mash and mostly whole wheat flour for the biga. The poppy seeds didn’t really stick

I know no one asked what I am knitting but I took a progress picture of my #WatermarkCardigan anyway. I wanted it to be shorter on the body so I started dividing for sleeves way early

A Watermark cardigan by Jared Flood, knitted by me. A partially knitted gray cardigan is laid out on the sunny part of the floor to show off the texture of the knitting using knit-purl stitch patterns and cable knitting techniques. The knitter has opted to make their cardigan body much shorter than the original pattern, with deeper sleeves to accommodate layers underneath. Yarn is Briggs & Little Heritage, which does not knit to the pattern gauge, so sizing adjustments have been made. It has taken roughly 120 hours to knit this far. There have been many mistakes.

I want everyone to post their hometown slop (technically the first one is local slop, I wasn't born here, the second one is hometown slop, though!)

on the left - a dish known as Ginger Beef. strips of beef, battered and deep fried, then tossed in a wok with a sweet ginger and hot pepper sauce. in the early days this dish used to be three chilis hot on the menu and that was a genuine warning. today it's honestly just sweet.

on the right - the sign for the Silver Inn Restaurant, where the dish was invented in 1970. It's round and mounted on a red brick wall.

the California Roll was invented in Vancouver in the 70's as a way to ease Vancouverites into eating sushi because they were all scared of raw fish. Now Vancouver has so much good sushi they take it for granted. This version uses crab-flavored pollock instead of the real crab and mayonnaise that was original.

i originally wanted the e95s because it's the modern version of the elite and it's so very midcentury modern, i mean look at this gorgeous creature
