CODE Maths Hub
@codemathshub
Working across our Hub region to promote the best in maths education, supported by the NCETM. We work in Cornwall, Plymouth, South West Devon, Teignbridge and Torbay.
Instead of #FunFactFriday, we’re marking Pi Approximation Day! Why? Most of us celebrate π on March 14 (3/14), but July 22 (22/7) is a famous fractional estimate of pi. Divide 22 by 7 and you get 3.142857…, which is surprisingly close to π (3.14159…). So there you have it — Happy Almost Pi Day!
We're still open and recruitment for ALL these projects is too; ✔ Primary SKTMS ✔ Secondary Work Groups, Programmes and Communities ✔ Post-16 Work Groups, Programmes and the new L3 Communities! Find out more and sign-up on our website; buff.ly/98qc77C

#FunFactFriday Alright we admit it. This has nothing to do with Maths and we are NOT sorry, it's almost the end of the school year 🤣 It is Queen Camilla's birthday today...but it's also actor, singer, and pop-culture icon David "the Hoff" Hasselhoff's birthday. Many happy returns to you both!
As we come to the end of the 2025.26 academic year, we wanted to thank everyone who makes what we do so brilliant - we couldn't do it without you! So whether you've been a participant, you attended our Conference or you're one of our Local Leaders of Mathematics Education - we THANK YOU

It's #FunFactFriday and today we're looking at the Eiffel Tower. Why? Because in hot weather, like now, the tower grows. The tower's usual height is around 330 meters, but on the hottest summer days, thermal expansion adds 12 to 15 centimeters to the height - AMAZING!
