Explored the grounds, ate some yummy dinner, and had an early night.
Excited by the 4th of July fireworks in Vegas tonight! All the casinos will have a coordinated show on the strip. 🎆
Really excited to see Frank Turner tonight at this tiny venue! One of Ben's favorites.
I hosted the zine workshop for the nursery mums! Very different topics covered: a show they were watching, the meet cute story, railing against capitalism, their immigration to the UK story, abstract art zine that experimented with form, subversion of childhood images, an explosion of color. 🤩
Spent the afternoon at Director+ roundtables at #LeadDev. #ldx3 #sketchnote
Also got a haircut today! 💇🏻♀️ Think I'm pulling off the edgy suburban mum / techie funky hair minus crazy colors (embracing natural gray instead)
The approach of just taping really speeds up the process! Plus adds a vintage authenticity to it. Was able to print and fold during lunch. 25 + 2 fun misprints ready to hand out tomorrow at LeadDev alongside stickers and a few professionally printed zines.
Cheated a little bit on the poster, didn't glue down the pieces, took a photo after assembly. Updated a bit in Affinity.
First edit, still so much to do. Gotta cut scope! Tempted to do a fold up a poster instead of an 8 page mini zine? We'll see how it evolves.
First step: Dig through my collage cuts looking for a theme. I pulled out interesting phrasing or things to say visually about tech, ai, leadership, diversity, humanness, creativity, and art.
Pretty pleased with my little vibe coded calendar calculator. It compares calendars (in this case three couples) to see which dates everyone is free. Makes scheduling a breeze!
I'm really excited to get this cutie little chair reupholstered! We also have a new yellow one coming as this one broke under warranty (leg keeps falling off).
Decided to buy an all in one stain and primer in a dark color (also white). In the meantime, I've glued it back together — careful not to have globs left over (like previous fixes).
Then I cut fabric from a dress and fluff from a pillow. I stapled down the fabric and glued down the fabric. I sewed the seams and removed the staples. Looking cute!
It's my first furniture refresh — and in miniature! First step was to sand off messy glue from previous fixes.
Went to my grandma's last week and besides having some quality time together I got to rummage through her stuff for some small tokens to bring home. This rocking chair pin cushion didn't survive the journey home in one piece, but it's definitely been reconstructed many times in its life.
Loving the ☀️ — second day out and about exploring the nooks and crannies around my office. Looking for hidden oases to draw and relax. Haven't found THE PLACE yet, but here's some lovely sights!
