Westminster West End councillor Tim Barnes bemoaning how difficult and expensive it would be to provide Lime Bike parking. Westminster has >40k motor parking bays >5k motorbike parking bays. It has 200 bays for bikeshare. 🤷🏻♂️
You have to ask what would cause someone to completely turn against all the measures he was campaigning for just a few years ago. He can't now even agree with road user charging as it might upset some drivers.
On another note, used a scooter the other day. They’re simply poor deal compared to bikes (unless you two-up on them). They’re charged the same per minute but are limited to a lower speed (including downhill - they don’t freewheel). So they always cost more than a bike for a journey.
I really like this messaging (though it may just be my mistranslation- does it just mean permitted?)

Just 90 seconds of everyday cycling on C3 at 930 this morning. Build it and they will come. Lime bikes are a great leveller: Young&old, male&female, smart&casual.
I am intrigued as to what goes on in the early hours while we're asleep. Unifi wifi 6 points (hardwired, no mesh) will deliver the WAN speed nearly everywhere in the house.
that's impressive but is it actually any use? I switched from 70Mbps ADSL to FTTP300 made no real difference. it doesn't feel any quicker and no third party sites are delivering at those sort of speeds. (Though it's possible the sampling from the router means it misses higher peaks)

They’ve a limited number of characters they’re already doing a lot with. Why don’t you rewrite it for them? What would you put in there?

It's far from the only bridge that's an issue either. There's a lot of infrasturucture we have that's old and deteriorating (and maintaining it is disruptive and expensive even if budgets weren't tight and it was always easier to punt it to be someone else's issue in future.) Albert and Vauxhall:

Well connected cycle lobby my arse. Who do think were the originators of the accusations of a TFL coverup? Why of course, it's those two well connected anti cycling infrastructure campaigners Vincent Stops and John Stewart.....
SEJ always claim to support school streets but of course have consistent form of objecting to them when they actually happen.
Vincent is an unashamed vehicular cycling advocate and objects to all protected infrastructure. While he implemented Low Traffic Neighbourhood schemes in Hackney he seems to object to them elsewhere and his brain melts at any evidence showing positive impacts of cycling infrastructure (inc. LTNs)
There is still fightback against the pedestrianisation of Oxford Street - Londons “high street” (and by implication the UKs #1. Same as it ever was

Every time there’s a suggestion of removing parking outside shops, or pedestrianising a shopping street the same old anti campaigns start(usually from shop owners who park outside their own shop). But this example is typical of the reality. Just look at this transformation.

The key part being that section is genuinely low traffic/access only because it doesn’t form a useful through route.
The most dangerous section of the route (mostly because of constant parking on DYL) is part of the TfL section (in red). All the blue section is advisory lanes that could easily be upgraded but are currently always parked in despite no loading marks.
