Frustrating that I can't put everything into ALT text, too many characters, apologies.😢 Basically.... Navarro is a liar and should be in jail. This whole regime and it's supporters should be in jail.🚨 The US should consider better business practices between themselves and their producers. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

"...Just to provide one example of this stunning hypocrisy of opaque “capitalism”. 73% of the entire US dairy market revenue (at the farm level) or 35 cents per litre of milk was funded from Government coffers. There has not been a single year since 2006 until 2026 where the American dairy industry has broken even. That is not a “bad year”. That is a bad system and a bad business. In a truly capitalist nation, it would be bankrupt and replaced with something more efficient.

Millions and millions of litres of milk is wasted every year from rampant overproduction due to the very high levels of US Government subsidization and there is something like two generations worth of stored cheese - and especially “American cheese” slices - developed specifically to help deal with excess milk. There are simply no more outlets for increasing the volume of dairy sales - except to browbeat other nations and try to dump into their markets.

This overproduction of course is the reason for the highly lobbied and vocal attacks on the Canadian supply management system. This system is imposed on all dairy producers to ensure a far more balanced and efficient system of production - without “boom / bust” cycles and without massive waste. Basically like a giant CO-OP. This management system is both cultural and historical and has nothing to do with tariffs or the USA. ALL dairy suppliers, be they Canadian or foreign are subject to quotas and though the potential exists to exceed these quotas, stiff financial penalties exist if one does. The USA has for generations had access to the Canadian dairy market through free trade. In the renegotiation of NAFTA, Canada increased the allowable quota from the USA significantly, but also noted that not ONCE in decades has the US dairy industry ever come even close to maximizing their existing quota allocation to the Canadian market. This US quota is ENTIRELY tariff free."

"The Canadian dairy market is appealing to the American producers because the very supply management system they wish to dismantle is what protects the entire system from crazy “boom/bust” cycles and it keeps the prices stable - albeit it somewhat elevated for the consumer. The problem is that the US overproduction and huge Government subsidies encourages US producers to DEMAND access to foreign markets so they can literally do EXACTLY what the US accuses China of doing - DUMPING.

Another strike against the US dairy industry is that Canadian system is heavily Health Canada controlled and the dairy industry must indicate if any growth hormones (Bovine somatotropin) or antibiotics (estrogen etc) were used in the production process. There is ZERO chance that any amount of pressure from Trump to change this will happen. No civilized nation will allow another to force it to lower its health standards protecting its citizens just so the other nation can place greed over human health. Dairy products are routinely checked to verify and tracked in Canada and standards are applied equally to all - domestic and foreign. This entire control process does not exist in the US system and therefore even higher quality dairy, without hormones etc can not be sold in the Canadian market as such because there is no control process in the US to guarantee the farmer’s claims. It has been remarked frequently that if Canada DID allow a flood of US dairy into the country, that Canadians simply would not buy it - and this is no idle threat given the spontaneous multi billion dollar tidal wave of Canadian citizen (not Government) rejection of American goods after the Annexation threats of Trump in early 2025.

...Canadians hear perpetually how expensive our dairy is from American lobby groups and politicians. Canadian producers receive 100% of their compensation from the marketplace whereas US producers receive 27% of their compensation from the marketplace and 73% from public taxes..."
