Notoriously tired.
We all get this is mental right? We all get it’s mental that Gordan Brown could be destroyed for calling a bigoted woman a bigoted woman, but that this sort of nonsense attacking voter, and includes a completely unnecessary attack on a vulnerable minority just as an aside, is considered clever?
Actually quite an interesting article. This stood out for me as a good diagnosis of what is wrong with Starmer (and every PM since 2010) - namely that he does succumb to voter’s (objectively false) beliefs, most obviously on immigration. The sad thing is, it doesn’t even work for Starmer.
That’s a hilariously weird reaction. Here’s my Libby App, literally says “Kent libraries” on it what do they do in the face of hard evidence? I must’ve listened to a hundred or more audio books on the libby app over the last couple of years.
Firstly, I was there in April, so this headline feels a little late. Secondly: rude! Thirdly: I never said “flesh eating”, that quote has been taken totally out of context.
Problem is, there’s so many bloody good quotes that could apply to the Tech Bros:
There you go, it’s gone and happened. Lib Dems overtake Tories and Labour to take second place in terms of council seats won, but probably too late in the day for that to be a major part of the news narrative.
I know the Lib Dems are boring and everyone ignores them but they’re a big electoral force. Every time I look at the updated results they’re a step closer to overtaking Labour for second place. And they’re difficult to dislodge, they’re political knotweed. Lots of voters like boring.
This is the clump that it’s easiest for Labour to get - as they’re all quite similar to their current voters - but also it’s fairly standard politics. Not hard left, but centre left, socially liberal rising up to a little bit authoritarian, but not shouting racial slurs outside a hotel level.
The Blue Labour plan seemed to be trying to go hard on the authoritarian left and centre-ish don’t knows, but it obviously hasn’t worked. I guess it makes sense if you only think in terms of “The Third Way” but it doesn’t seem to be a great plan for the current age.
Digging out @benansell.bsky.social’s charts again you can see where the two big blocs of voters are, right? There’s the authoritarian clump (blue) and the progressive clump (red)
Lid Dems are edging into 2nd place, but still everyone is talking about Reform and the Greens.
I also assume the inexorable march of the Lib Dems will continue to be ignored while everyone fights over Reform and The Greens.
I don’t know who that is, but I’m pretty sure one of these two people is Streeting.
