47. Jessica Jones: Alias - Volume 1 Ali and I have been re-watching the Netflix-era Marvel shows, and our favorite is definitely Jessica Jones. As a birthday present, Ali got me trades of the full 2001-2003 run that the show is largely based on, and so far I really like it.

46. Adventures of Pip This is a clever 2-D platformer based around the idea of a video game hero who can transform from a single-colored block, to 8-Bit and 16-Bit forms to stop an evil sorceress trying to take control of all pixels. The writing isn’t exactly my thing…

45. Yooka-Laylee I know this game just got a highly anticipated remaster, but me being the weirdo that I am, I wanted to play the original release first, because I found the talk about it’s shortcomings interesting compared to two of my all-time favorite games, Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie.

So I’m probably gonna have to throw out these posters. There’s no where to put them up in the new place, and they’ll likely be all messed up from taking them down anyway. Just goes against my collecting sensibilities. Sharing these pictures to memorialize them.

44. Star Fox 2 The game that never was, until it was! It took me a second to figure out how to actually play this; both on controls and mechanics. But getting the hang of it this is actually WAY easier than SF1. Some say it was never properly difficulty balanced before Nintendo shelved it.

43. Star Fox (1993) I’ve tried this game a few times and never had the skill or will to get all the way through. But with the “new” game out I finally had the motivation to cross the SNES original off the list. For the record I really like Star Fox 64 and am generally opinionated about the series:

42. Balatro It feels crazy to say I “beat” this game, I’m certainly not “finished” with it. But I did win a run which is enough for me to add it to the “Games I Beat” list. Actually I won my second ever run, which felt great. I get the sense the starting difficulty isn’t really the dream here…

41.) Disco Elysium: The Final Cut Oh ho ho ho ho, this is my kind of game! A tabletop RPG system for a murder mystery filled with psychodrama, weird asides, and borderline pretentious musings on politics and philosophy. It’s got my dry sense a humor, and is both profound and mercilessly brutal.

40. Deltarune: Chapter 5 I kinda can’t believe this is here already! While Deltarune is technically one game coming out in installments, I’ve always thought of each Chapter as its own complete little experience, with its own three act structure. Chapter 5 is of the same high quality as 3 & 4.

39. Sounds Fishy Ali and I got this game last Christmas after seeing it played on Smosh Games, but we only tried it for ourselves this past week. I guess this wasn’t a top priority for game nights, but it turned out to be a really fun time, even more than I expected.

38. The Amazing Digital Circus Okay! So to summarize my thoughts on the entire show… uh, wow. It’s been a journey! I remember watching the first episode and, while respecting the work put in, not really clicking with it. The pilot is very piloty to me. But Ep 2 hooked me and I’ve loved it since.

36. Downwell I got this game for a dollar awhile back, thought it looked fun. What finally got me to invest the time was learning its creator later worked on UFO 50. Downwell is a small yet complex game that would be right at home in the UFO collection, but it’s standalone so it gets its own entry.

Day 1: Madeline - Celeste Madeline is a young trans woman 🏳️‍⚧️, as hinted by background details in the DLC ending, and finally confirmed online by her creator. Interestingly her creator’s journey to coming out happened alongside this game’s development…

35. American Idol: Season 24 I want gonna include this at first because I only watched from like the Top 14 to the finale, but the whole season. But what the hell, it’ll make a funny story. I’ve never given a damn about American Idol, but there’s been a major change in my life…

34. Gameoverse (Pilot) I guess I put cartoon pilots on these threads now, so here we go. Similar to how I felt after the TADC pilot, I was overjoyed to see this announced and see a lot of potential, but the pilot as a whole didn’t really resonate with me.

33. Blood of the Werewolf I actually picked this up in 2013 because Oscar and I were planning the first Monster Month and this game starred a werewolf. It had mixed reviews but it was cheap. I meant to playthrough it for years, but for awhile it wouldn’t actually open on my desktop or laptop…

32. Yes, Your Grace Another banger from Steamcembers past. YYG is a sort of choose-your-own-adventure/management sim where you are a medieval king tasked to keep his kingdom safe and happy. Gameplay largely revolves around you hearing requests from your subjects and deciding how much to help.

31. Pizza Tower This game stresses me out but it’s also really good. Most common comparison is to Wario Land 4; borrowing that game’s invulnerable hero, status effects as power-ups, and level escapes sequences is all great. They’re iterating off the untapped potential of that game.

30. I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream (the video game) I finally got around to this seminal science-fiction short story last year. My interest came from knowing it’s a major influence for The Amazing Digital Circus. With TADC’s finale coming soon, I wanted to play the famous game adaptation.

29. Punisher: One Last Kill Um, no. Ew. I really hated this. For the uninitiated, this is a 50-minute special acting as a spotlight for the Punisher, who has already appeared in several. Netflix seasons and the first season of Daredevil: Born Again. This special is just ultraviolent misery.

28. Coral Island This has been on my radar for awhile as one of my friend Amber’s favorite games. I’ve already put countless hours into Stardew Valley, which CI is clearly iterating off of. And in preparation for a project with Amber, I tried this game out and, whelp, it ate up a month of my life.

I made some chicken paprikash for the mom and grandmother tonight. Best paprikash I’ve made so far! The trick was to treat it like a do an Italian sauce and simmer it on low heat to let it thicken.

26. Wheel You Be Mine In place of their usual Bit City show, Smosh did a five episode run of an improv series spoofing reality dating shows like Love Island, with five different people who drove cars for a living. Very silly concept with comedians I like, including guest star Miles Bonsignore.
