The use of good-fitting respirator masks really does prevent the spread of airborne illnesses. World Mask Week is an occasion to think about adopting this healthy habit, especially in certain settings like healthcare and mass transit. Find out more on our website: covidaction.nz/en/aguidetom...
Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland: Free mask locations - Rānui Library and Avondale Library! Both libraries have a box with free 3M Auras and free KN95s.
Online Open Mic! We are holding our second open mic event. 🎤 Sat 21st of Feb 🎤 8:00 - 9:30pm
We were at the Whau ZineFest which was part of PrideFest Out West. We offered free zines sharing information about how to stay safe from Covid (and other airborne illnesses), free masks and free RAT tests. Thanks to the organisers and attendees for the warm welcome.
Stay safe out there. There are indications we may be entering another wave. We have resources on our website about staying safe but also what to do if you do test positive: covidaction.nz/en/resources
We had a highly enjoyable event, with original and popular songs and poems performed by a good number of different contributors. Save the date for the next! We're planning to run another one on the evening of Valentine's Day. #covidsafe #virtual #event
A grim anniversary today - six years since the first identified Covid case. In Aotearoa, we were lucky to have leadership that listened to the science in the early phases of the pandemic, saving thousands of lives. However, subsequently we have not applied the science that
Aotearoa Covid Action (ACA) is holding its first ever online open mic night! It will take place on the 6th of December from 8pm to 10pm and is open to all sorts of art forms; singing, playing an instrument, reciting poetry/prose, showing your visual art, etc.
We are one week away from our Auckland and Wellington Covid safe meetups (on Sunday 23 November): • Masked pinball at Ye Olde Pinball Shoppe on Bond Street from 10-11 am. Unlimited play on all machines for $20 • Picnicking, walking, socialising at Totara Park in South Auckland from 11 am
We now have a new mask bloc in Hamilton! Based in Western Community Centre. We will need funds and volunteers to keep it going. For the former: chuffed.org/project/1535... For the latter, feel free to DM us!
Measles is airborne. Wear a good quality mask as a layer of protection.
With the current evolving measles situation, remember to check your vaccination status and you can get boosted for free.

Solidarity with the striking workers. Let's look after each other's health while standing up for fair pay and fair working conditions.
Striking? Wear a mask. From Sir Mason Durie's Te Whare Tapa Whā model for health describing health and wellbeing as a wharenui/meeting house with four walls sitting on the land (whenua). The two walls here are: Taha tinana - physical health/the body. Taha whānau - belonging - community & family.
Collective action, collective care #wearamask #strike #covidsafe
We support the right to strike. Wear a mask in the crowd to invest in your health 💪
It's not just about salary, it's about working conditions. At ACA we believe teachers and students deserve clean air classrooms, adequate sick leave, and access to vaccines and antivirals. We don't accept the "new normal" of constant sickness and teachers quitting the profession due to Long Covid.
Wellingtonians - Are you interested? An hour of unlimited play on the machines at Ye Olde Pinball Shoppe before regular opening hours on a Sunday from 10-11 am. N95 or better masks to be worn at all times and there is an air purifier. $20/person and we need 25 people to make the event happen.
We need to get serious about protecting our tamariki. Study finds Long Covid risk for children doubles after a second infection. stillcoviding.ca/en/news/long...
For our Wellington whānau: Our mask bloc is officially stocked and ready to go! Come on down to Newtown Library for some free masks.
We are so humbled to have met our donation goal of $500 after only two days after launching our ACA Wellington Mask Bloc donation page. Its so heartening that people believe in this cause so much that they are still willing to donate in a recession. We have set a new goal of $1000.
Our board game social was a success yesterday! Thanks to the D*List for giving us 3 free hours in their office space in Auckland and to Cheeky Parrot Games which provided the games library. We hope to arrange more get togethers like this. We had about 25 people brave Auckland's weather to attend.
