(my example is an analogy and not literal for all of my friends who need the reading comp help). (switching to literal now) when people, in this case liberals, don’t understand a concept, feelings of shame for “being stupid” (you’re not but i’m talking about the thought-feeling that arises) come up, so they blame the other person for “making them feel stupid” and react with name calling to deflect from their ego insecurity being triggered. leftists aren’t “making” them feel stupid, their discomfort of being confronted with ideas / concepts they don’t actually know

i’ve seen this sentiment a few times and it just goes to show that not only do many people have very poor judgement of character, they also have poor judgement of journalistic writing and reporting
