Today I shot my normal terrible golf score but I did get two pars for the first time ever, both on par 3s where I had decent birdie looks.

If I'm not an idiot (and I could definitely be an idiot) I think this sums up what happened just now in Red Sox-Blue Jays.

Runners were on first and third with one out. Fly ball to center field. Both runners started jogging immediately, thinking there were two outs. Center fielder catches the ball and throws it in, Blue Jays throw it in to first base to double up the runner there. That's the second out of the play, inning over.

The runner on third who also took off immediately upon contact thinking there were two outs crossed home plate. Umps ruled that run counted and that ruling stood because even though the umps got it very clearly 100% no question wrong, the Blue Jays did not appeal that the runner didn't tag up at third. And since that was the initial ruling, the out at first became a "timing play," and the run from third scored before the second out was recorded.

So it was an inning-ending double play, but the run still counted.
