This is Don Julio. He waits outside the Sprat’s door each day to challenge her to battle the ever since she gave him the smoke that one time… He likes no one. He has beaten every barn cat we have ragged. God, I feel sorry for her door dash driver.
Reminder of some of the beautiful wild life that well lose if data centers are allowed to push into Appalachia. This little charmer is from Franklin County, Ky
Reminder to myself why I keep trying to make it as a writer even when it feels like I can’t/won’t.
Cover reveal for The Hell That Came To Harlan! Set in the 1920’s Coal Wars, filled with tense action and bloody terror, The Hell That Came To Harlan promises to take readers into the dark heart of coal country - and the wicked men who made Hell out of Heaven. From @nightmarepress.bsky.social
Incase you're wondering what I'm working on... It is the descendants of the same people who built Coal Creek to starve people to death that even now conspire to steal the voices of Black American voters. They have changed not a single lick in so far as I can tell.
I might be a grumpy bastard most of the time, but getting to see the Sprat on vacation at the beach (for the first time in her life) leaves me grinning like an old possum. I'll never understand how any parent could love their kid less because they're gay. Ever.
You know all those Dispatches I do about the water quality in Appalachia? This is why... No one deserves to have to deal with water that has been turned bright orange by chemical waste. Our environment deserves better, our people deserve better, and our future deserves better.
I know it’s petty and that we should never be petty… But… If RFK Jr was a Batman villain, his name would be Scrotum Face and he’d be a founding member of the Legion of Dumb-as-Fuck. He’s a Garth Ennis character come to life.
If JD Vance wants to keep calling himself an Appalachian, why don't he come down here to the Coal Triangle and have himself a nice drink of our water? Go on. Fill your glass, Mr. Bowman. Fill it to the top and have you a long drink.
Looks like they made a Mountain Dew to match the drinking water in Appalachia.
That time when I was a little kid and I made a clown reconsider their life choices.
This is what your favorite Appalachian gonzo journalist looked like when I was a little kid.
Never forget - the Oligarchy is not loyal to anyone...regardless of race or creed... They worked the children of Appalachia to death in their mines and treated us like we were no more than machinery to be used to harvest their coal.
Mr. Gentleman wants you all to know that you should buy copies of Sarah Corbin’s Bloody Revenge and American Mystic: The Life, Death, and Rebirth of Jimmy Wonderful. Buy my books. Get Mr. Gentleman more treats and toys. Don’t make him send Kiki - Kiki gets too emotional.
Been up all night writing and realized the cats had fallen asleep on my lap like this. Zoolie and Pickles look like they’re kissing.
One of my favorite pictures from American Mystic: The Life, Death, and Rebirth of Jimmy Wonderful. The artist, @emperexofamerica.bsky.social absolutely knocked it out of the park for me on this one. She's pretty much the only person I'd trust to draw Jimmy. Oh, and..ah... #FuckAi.
Samantha Strong vs Lex Luthor -or- Hear me out… @gailsimone.bsky.social locked in a death battle with Jeff Beszos. You decide.
