My pronouns are nerd/geek. I hope I'm an ally to many and an enemy to few. I can't believe bsky ran out of more interesting people to invite.
This morning's nugget of gold from the vast sewer that is X. The irony of the Dalai Lama's account posting this on that platform is definitely not lost on me... 😇
💯 There are some infrastructure providers (and their shareholders) truly raking it in...
Looking for something else entirely on my laptop but found these instead... #HappyWednesday
💯 All of those... And, some strip all nuance to try to fit their point into goldfish-attention-span sound bites, and some are so sick of pushing back on "the narrative" of Big AI that they're running really low on ... patience.
The manic++ drive for velocity as a proxy for productivity in the age of #AI makes it feel like a good time to read Cal Newport's "Slow Productivity". One has to wonder where AI would be if the big players weren't cutting every corner in the name of speed...
Interesting! I suppose I can live with this result, although I'm not sure I understand the Davos / Dubai axis... 🤷♂️
Brilliant! Congrats, Best Buy! A real confidence-builder in your #IT infrastructure (and staff) there!
It's Juneteenth. Post your favorite Black fictional character. So many possibilities! Can I go for the Sneakers two-fer?
Thinking back, how big a "context window" would Joshua have needed to learn his lesson about the only winning move? How many millions would he have spent on tokens? Would today's models answer at all? No current/frontier model is likely to get there even if they're allowed to reason on their own.
From The Information... Investors. Seem. Nervous? That "business model" would have me running for the hills!
Well, I suppose there's this hidden-ish gem. If they've got one and it's been seen/photographed publicly, I've got to wonder how many more they might have... 🤔 www.youtube.com/watch?v=tblW...
Hmmm... Does this mean people can't directly sue under this law? If so, I'm not sure how Colorado might deal with an avalanche of requests for enforcement... 🤔
One bit that stood out to me is below. (b)(I) Could be read as requiring "explainability" of any decision rendered by the "high-risk AI" component. Full observability outside the LLM/GPT core probably wouldn't cut it once counsel got the "deployer", "developer", or responsible party ⬇️
I'm not sure what to say about this idea. Generating synthetic data to fine-tune an #AI model sounds like lying to your therapist and hoping for a breakthrough. On every level, it feels like working against the goal of building responsible, ethical, safe AI... 🤷♂️
Hmmm... On to a different camera in a different year. Need to fire up the PowerMac and a few other backup drives to see what fell in between. The pics of me without a beard will never see the light of day though... 😇
St. Louis has its issues, but there have always been good spots for a picture or two. The new Busch stadium is nice, but the old-er one had its charms too...
This glorious beast has been my windows background off and on for years...
It's a shame they don't let you take the kitty cats home with you. I bet this one purrs like nobody's business...
Decided to fire up the old optical drive and see what was on some backup disks. Looks like I was out shooting in the Missouri Botanical Gardens and the St. Louis Zoo a bit that year. This was taken a few months before 9/11. A simpler time...
Pretty much the premise of The Island. How long until we find out they had to grow whole people to make it work? Amazing how many of these folks want to mimic the bad guys from dystopian fiction rather than the good guys...
