Moved to Portland from Seattle in late 2025. Ride bikes, travel when I can, and work in zoning and community planning. I love makin' maps. www.crozierian.com www.cycleblaze.com/journals/crozierbike
I've never related to Mayor Katie Wilson more! publicola.com?fbclid=IwY2x...
Flashback to watching the crowd watch Spain beat France for the European Cup in Barcelona two years ago. It was memorable!
Very funny last night to see cars lining up along the Marquam Bridge (I-5) to watch the fireworks and then the cops coming along and clearing them out
Pretty cool of the Mariners to give out tricolor jerseys to support El Tri tonight ;)
Fun fact: Paraguay made it to the 2011 Copa América final on penalty kicks alone
Paraguay champion of the penalty kicks!!! (This is how they made it to the Copa América final when I was in the Peace Corps there in 2011, despite not winning a single game in the tournament)
dammit every time they publish an article like this the player in question immediately tanks. don't jinx it dudes!
World Cup counties by population: 1) USA is the biggest by far 2) Saudi Arabia has more people than I thought and is about the median 3) lot of small euro nations punching above their weight ofc 4) England has 84% of UK population 5) Iran is the 7th largest 6) ten are smaller than Washington state
Randomly stumbled upon this clipping from 1975, downtown Portland. "One skid road alcoholic told him "If they close this hotel, the only alternative I have is living under the bridge". The homelessness crisis was the least surprising outcome possible.
lol maybe it's worth it to have slow surface-running light rail if we can have >>> grass trams <<<
Remarkable how clearly you can see the zoning boundaries just looking at aerials in north Seattle.
One the of big differences between the current energy crisis and the 1970's that I haven't heard remarked upon is that now we have a strategic petroleum reserve. It's proven extremely effective. Gas is up about 50% this year, compared to 560% in the 1970's (over the course of six years, granted).
Looking back at my photos the one on Military Rd in Tukwila is not as charming as the one you describe, but I did like that it was full of plants.
