I don't usually share poetry online, but when I do (zoom in for c-u of steely grey eyes)... I try to post a reasonably good one. (Damn... jinx?) Anyway: words for "Profusion" are here www.facebook.com/mitch.toews and a vid with me reading in the garden is here www.tiktok.com/@mitchell.to...

The last 16 editors to accept prose/poetry from me reside in: Vancouver, Nebraska, Toronto, London (UK), Vancouver, Wisconsin, New York State/North Carolina, London/Oregon, Tehran, Kansas, Northampton (UK), South Carolina (via Texoma), Thunder Bay. Thank you, it means the world to me.
I made a Pi...Tarte normande. Walnuts instead of almonds. Raspberry glaze instead of apricot. Vanilla ice cream. Czech lager.
A lit mag I love has rejected so many consecutive submissions that I'm in danger of getting red-cheeked. Can't have that, so I'm sending sourdough recipes, bowling scores, a CRA audit from '87... stuff they HAVE to reject. See? Eh? So when I start sending stories again, hoo-babbee!
Hey, Toews... what's with all the TIRE-PUMPING on www.facebook.com/mitch.toews/? To recognize the judges/editors who considered my submissions & shine a light on their publications/prizes. To support other artists who appear in that periodical or longlist, etc. So, bragging? Pretty much.
CHEERS! To the Manitoba Writers' Guild and the poetry critique circle. This poem—workshopped and encouraged by MWG poets—ended up getting published in a wonderful Nebraska/The World place for poetry: The Corpus Callosum 3.1: Dreams & Nightmares #ManitobaWriters'Guild #TheCorpusCallosum

My friend Ariel gave me a copy of a story she wrote. It's called "Swimming Towards the Door" and it appears in The Fiddlehead magazine. Ariel is Canadian "author, poet, and enthusiast" (and much more), Ariel Gordon of Winnipeg. In my opinion, you should all read the story. Photo credit: Mike Deal

“I don’t think that style is consciously arrived at, any more than one arrives at the color of one’s eyes. After all, your style is you. At the end the personality of a writer has so much to do with the work.” —Truman Capote
OMG! The negotiations were tough, but it happened. I've been able to reach an agreement with GST and as of Dec 14, my collection of themed short stories, Pinching Zwieback (At Bay Press, 2023) is available TAX-FREE for all Canadians. We got them to throw in a bunch of other things too.
