An interesting mid-17th century grave marker in the churchyard of St. Helen’s, Folksworth, near Peterborough. I haven’t seen that many external examples of this date, so it caught my eye!
The beautiful old buttermarket, on the ground floor of Newark Town Hall - an impressive 18th century building by John Carr. The colours are fab! 🤩

A fascinating section of the mid-14th century refectory, later used as a barn, at Denny Abbey in Cambridgeshire. Many phases of alteration, re-use, layers of different mortars and coatings…🤩 The great thing is, it has survived…most don’t!

Yes, it’s frustrating but looking at it positively, the clutter is often because the churches are being used - and at least it’s all movable. What I find harder is the unsympathetic installations of hardware, when there would have been a better option or alternative. A prime example at Glatton…🫣

A beautiful little mid-18th century bath house, next to the Beaulieu River, Hampshire 😍 Built in 1760 by Lord Montagu, for his son who suffered from arthritis and benefitted from bathing in the salt water from the river. Since then it has been a home, a yacht club-house and now a holiday let!
