Fire Emblem new incoming. Given the game's release date, this may be the final Fortune's Weave Direct. If Eshmel's the Avatar character, which I'm almost certain that they are, this is probably the time where we're finally going to learn what their deal is.
I think it's fair to raise eyebrows at trends gleaned from prerelease material. But take it from an FE oldhead, getting TRULY heated over incomplete info works you up for no gain. Game's out soon. There'll be ample time for discourse. Might as well wait for the full picture.
Since we're in a Fodlan mood, I might as well post the Three Houses FE7 character sheet I made like AGES ago around when the game came out. Never did anything with these, but still was a fun theorycraft.
Their prominence on the boxart and having gendered designs means that Fortune's Weave is almost assuredly having an Avatar, Eshmel. They seem Agarthan. Hopefully more Shez than Byleth in how they're used in the story.
The Prequal/Sequel debate thickens. Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave "seems" to be a sequel to Three Houses. The events of Three Houses take place between Fodlan year 1180 and 1185. Per the UI in the trailer, Fortune's Weave seems to occur in year 1449, almost 300 years later.
JP Fire Emblem Twitter already updated to the new Fortune's Weave Anna design. Bless, it's so much better than the Three Houses version. 🙏
In Fortune's Weave, exploration time is divided into turns. Doing the math, there are 43 days between the date shown in the UI and the Deadline. The game lists 172 turns left. 43 ÷ 173 = .25 Thus, a "turn" equates to exactly 1/4th of a day in Fortune's Weave.
Legendary Lyn's up next for a FEH Resplendent! Here's an art comparison! While this isn't beating Wada's swansong of a promoted Lyn design for me, I actually really like this art--more than both Braves & the CYL Duo, even. Keeping her lithe & eschewing the bike pump is good 👍
I find it funny that both of the Avatar characters were turned into androids in FE Shadows. Dunno if that's an intentional throughline to reference the character customizability or a silly coincidence. Heck, maybe it's a dragon thing. We'll have to see what Tiki brings...

Why do I care so much about the design tenets of the single worst, most irrelevant weapon in the entire Fire Emblem series? Why could God not give me cooler hyperfixations?
Kinda cool that Ephraim's posed like his official FE8 art here, albeit I'm not sure where the Tiger connection stems from. Between Engage and Shadows, I think it's safe to say that this design for Siegmund is what IntSys is sticking with as canon moving forward.

Engage losing CYL three times in a row despite being the most recent title is really only funny in the same way Chrom always losing Voting Gauntlets or Edelgard always losing A Hero Rises is funny--in jest or with tongue and cheek. I do feel bad for the game's diehards though.

Also, if you're wondering what movement type the past CYL winners have been categorized in for the Shadows Cup, I sorted them into a list. Infantry is a bloodbath. Armor is absolutely free for Edelgard lmao.
FEH's Choose Your Legends: Shadows Cup is open to ALL (non-Lyn) characters, including previous CYL winners. So Ike, Dimitri, Edelgard, ect... The winners this time are the single most popular character of each move type, not the top 2 Men/Women. Here are the likely frontrunners:
The CYL Shadows Cup actually seems like a good solution to an ever-creeping issue. At this point, FE's popular characters have long since won CYL, so people have stopped caring as much. Bringing the heavy hitters back into the running drums up more hype and eyes to the event.

Ilian Pegasus Knight banner... ...with only ONE Ilian Pegasus Knight actually present ..and she's double backpacked and paired w. Hilda. Honestly, truly hate to see it.
Ilia cultural banner, it seems. Azura seems a sensible fit per Sky Knight passing to Shigure but the ahoge strikes me as RD Mia, and she doesn't really ever talk with the Begnion Pegasus Knights. Usually only 1-2 cultural hosts, so baring Juno, it could be any Elibe Pegasister.
