19th July 1852: The Chepstow Railway Bridge was used for the first time! 🚂🏴 Brunel's "Great Tubular Bridge" conquered the tidal River Wye, creating a self-supporting 300-foot span that finally opened the GWR line from London all the way to Swansea. #Chepstow #History #OnThisDay

21st June 1836: The Taff Vale Railway Company was created by Act of Parliament! 🚂🏴 Engineered by Brunel to conquer the narrow Taff Valley, its early trains were legally capped at just 12 mph. Today, its legacy lives on through two preserved locomotives.

Visiting the Snowdon Mountain Railway for the first time has been amazing! 🏔️✨ Built in 1896, it’s the UK’s only public rack railway, using a cog system to climb to the summit of Yr Wyddfa. 🚂🏴 Big thanks to the SMR team for being so friendly during my time here!
