Grumpy old man (since a teenager). Green. Raging against the dying of the light. Buyer, and occasional reader, of books. Coffee, beer, wine - not necessarily in that order. Despise immoral wealth, want limitarianism now.
My highlight of the week? The arrival of my very first Irish 🇮🇪 passport! Another step closer to residing abroad. 😁
Netanyahu's toothbrush moustache is coming along nicely. With the 'tache, the murderous activities of a genocidal maniac and the sense of entitlement to do whatever he wants, he certainly seems to be emulating his hero. Hopefully he'll end up in jail forever, rather than a bullet to the head.
Unfortunately, this doesn't show the whole picture... Whilst I may have spoken 40,000 French words on Duolingo, the number of DIFFERENT words spoken is considerably less. I've a feeling this 'learning French thing' is going to take me a very, VERY long time! Bonne nuit à tous!
South East Water: we're putting your bills up enormously but you MUST save water, don't use your hosepipes or jet washers, bathe together (probably, knowing them!). Also South East Water: a gushing leak reported more than 7 hours ago and no f'ing sign of them trying to fix it.
My son, enjoying being part of the Roman reenactment group at the Chalke Valley History Festival, despite the heat in his HEAVY period costume (canon in background was for a later period group, before you state the obvious!). A proud dad in the crowd watched on.
WTF Sky news? Did I miss the "Can Farage remain an MP if he never visits his constituency" headline?
If you think Farage is working for YOUR interests, you're delusional. The extract below, from Limitarianism by Ingrid Robeyns, is what he's interested in... this, and ONLY this. Farage is ONLY interested in HIS wealth and that of his friends & donors. He's very far from being 'a man of the people'.
To anyone voting Reform, may I introduce you to the term "kleptocrat". If you think self-serving Farage and his self-serving gang won't prove themselves to be kleptocrats, you've been deluded. Admit your own gullibility and condemn Reform to the waste bin of UK politics .
A walk in the countryside always offers a surprise. Today I had two: First, the wonderful view from half way up the South Downs in Kingston. Second, my first ever experience of carpeted pews! SO MUCH MORE comfortable (not!).
Methinks this may be the first time some of these guys have maypole danced in fifty years or more! Good luck to them though! Wherever you are, I hope you're having fun!
I see your south of France blue skies and I raise you East Sussex blue skies (I still think you win as we're having to work today, ahead of rain tomorrow)!
Sissinghurst Castle, Kent. My partner loves the garden, I love the buildings... something for both of us to fall in love with.
Only a few pages in, but I'm already enjoying my new book!
Anti right wing/fascism protest, not strictly No Kings. But organised to support the US protests (well done you guys in the US!).
Apparently, half a million protesters are on the streets in London today, opposing the far right's hate of 'others'. BBC's and Sky's webpages: no reporting of it whatsoever. The omission speaks volumes.
Vince Dale (Ecotricity) supporting today's event in London. Good on ya, Vince!
Mamdani's great, not one reference about himself! This video would be completely different if that *rse, Trump, we're trying to deliver it. Having only just gained Irish citizenship via foreign birth registration, I REALLY have to up my historical knowledge. This is what I'm starting with:
What a strange thing to include in one's Vinted listing for a tweed jacket. I'm of an age where, were I to wear this, passers-by would think the "vintage smell" was likely to be me!
That's such a beautiful picture. One that, had someone painted it exactly like that, we'd say they'd used artistic license. It's better than my current skyscape.
Roof timbers of le Mont St Michel are far less elaborate but so attractive in their own way.
We have a new wildlife guy in town, Michael T! He's a great lad. A weekly roundup of news and views - something to look forward to each week.
After more than a year of setting aside these socks for a special day, they came out to celebrate the next step on my journey towards relocating to France: today I received my certificate of Irish citizenship!
Honfleur, aujourd'hui. Wet and overcast but, architecturally, a treasure trove. So beautiful!
Sad news but ... In a bid to boost the Dorset tourist economy, I'm sure all those Italian lovers would be made welcome if they were to visit Durdle Door! Just don't take your 80 y.o. relative, as I did, who nearly had heart failure walking back up to the car park!
I know you've complained about the weather down there recently but have a thought for those of us in the UK who have this. 👇👇👇 We're looking at your pics and are Green with envy!
