@dananessel
Michigan Attorney General. I love my kids, wife, cats, and country. But not Ohio State U.
My office is taking the Michigan Public Service Commission to court for rushing approval of the Saline data center project. The MPSC should work for the people, not utility companies and tech giants.
Today’s landmark Michigan Supreme Court ruling is a major win for every Michigan consumer. The Consumer Protection Act can once again do what it was designed to do: protect people from deceptive and predatory business practices.
While our case is focused on staffing data, there is a real human cost to the defendants' choices and their failure of care. The consequences of chronic understaffing placed vulnerable residents at unnecessary risk of harm, violated their rights, and resulted in numerous injuries.
I am relieved that we have now successfully defended this funding twice from unlawful attempts by the Trump administration to strip away vital mental health grants. www.thealpenanews.com/news/2026/07...
We've heard these wild claims from Donald Trump before, and the facts haven't changed. Michigan's elections are secure, accurate, and trusted by voters across the state. Any effort to undermine them will be met with a strong defense.
The federal government cannot just cancel entire programs on a whim. This ruling puts an end to these unlawful grant terminations and protects money that rightfully belongs to Michigan programs and residents.
As Democrats, we're united by our commitment to protecting people's rights, defending democracy, and electing leaders who will fight for our shared values. Thank you, MI-11 Dems, for recognizing me with the "Chiming in for Justice" award at your Big Tent BBQ this afternoon.
Yesterday, during the Air Quality Alert, AG Nessel joined @envdefensefund.bsky.social to call for the closure of the JH Campbell Coal Plant. Polluters like this are driving up our costs and driving down our quality of life. Days like this remind us why this plant can’t be open one more day.
Great to be in Kalamazoo last night with so many supporters of Julie Rogers. Julie is exactly the kind of leader we need in the State Senate. She's a thoughtful public servant with a real record of standing up for Michigan families.
Regardless of what Donald Trump says, elections are run by the states. Thank you to @kzoodems.bsky.social for hosting a great discussion on voting rights and ballot access tonight.
Our farmers work tirelessly to ensure we have food to put on our tables, and they shouldn’t have to beg a multi-billion-dollar corporation for the ability to fix their own tractors. When a machine breaks down, the time lost directly jeopardizes their livelihood and our economy.
It was a beautiful day for Independence Day parades in Plymouth and Northville. Happy 250th birthday, America! 🇺🇸
As long as the Trump administration keeps violating the rights of Michiganders and stealing our money, I will keep fighting back.
Pride is a time to celebrate how far we’ve come, but it’s also a time to remember the power of our vote. Candidates who don’t support our community haven’t earned our support at the ballot box.
I am relieved that the Court saw through the President’s illegal crusade to usurp state-run elections. Whether it’s through executive orders or DOJ pressure tactics, this White House continues to peddle debunked conspiracy theories in its quest to federalize the electoral process.
AI companies are using scam tactics to bully us into building their data centers. Not taking the time to fully investigate the pros and cons could ultimately devastate our state for generations to come.
Want a state AG who will challenge the utilities each and every time they ask for a rate hike? Get yourself a Democratic AG. thebradentontimes.com/stories/flor...
If the AI companies that operate the hyper-scale data centers go bankrupt, who’s left paying for their costs? It shouldn’t be Michigan residents.
My office is fighting to ensure ratepayers are not forced to subsidize hyperscale data centers. Google should pay the full cost of powering its proposed data center, not the average DTE customer already facing high utility bills.
Thank you to the Newaygo County Democratic Party for presenting me with the “Democracy Defender” award at your 10th annual fundraising dinner. Great to be with our next AG Eli Savit as well as so many dedicated members of our party.
I love the big city Prides, but nothing warms my heart like the small town festivals that dot the state like here in Marshall, providing hope, love and free mom hugs for all. Wherever you are in Michigan, our state government respects your rights. 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️
If Data Centers aren't done right, they could cause generational harm for our state that can't be undone.
I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my last Motor City Pride as AG. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have served as Michigan’s first openly LGBTQ statewide officeholder and proud of the work my department has done to protect the community. Happy Pride to all! 🏳️🌈
Michiganders struggling to keep a roof over their heads shouldn’t be exploited by predatory companies. I am proud of my office’s work in securing this settlement and protecting future homeowners from deceptive practices. www.legalnews.com/Home/Article...
Incredible turnout last night in support of the Oceana County Democratic Party. Michiganders everywhere are standing up against the Trump administration’s unlawful and immoral actions.
The Trump administration is crying wolf over a nonexistent energy emergency, while at the same time undermining every effort made to increase the efficiency, affordability, and reliability of domestic energy markets.
Our democracy is under attack and pretending otherwise helps no one. www.freep.com/story/opinio...
The opioid epidemic has caused immense damage to Michigan families and communities. By providing spending guidance and accessible data, we are helping ensure that settlement funds remain focused on supporting recovery, prevention, and healing across our state.
While other states and the federal government remain focused on sowing chaos and disenfranchising voters… theflintcouriernews.com/state-leader...
