Drinking from my RCMP mug today on the 153rd anniversary of the force. On July 4, 1873 the Dominion of Canada established the North-West Mounted Police.

Quick photo as Christmas Eve worship was set to begin at Wall Street United Church in Brockville ON. Worshipers were still arriving as the band and singers took their places to proclaim that unto us in the city of David a Saviour is born, who is Christ, the Lord.

The Franklin the Turtle children's books are Canadian, by Paulette Bourgeois (Winnipeg) and Brenda Clark (Toronto). Our Christmas wish list includes the American Defence Secretary, who posted this illustration, taking Franklin's name out of his mouth.

We have not been to Tim Hortons for a couple of weeks, apparently, as we have the Christmas Santa-Claus-playing-hockey cups for the first time.

My great uncles Walter and Sandy Hayward joined the Royal Canadian Artillery in 1915 but were sent to infantry battalions. Sandy was wounded and gassed, and suffered from PTSD. Walter was killed at Cambrai in September 1918 and is buried at Aubigny, France.

Mallard duck hen has made a nest and laid her eggs in the neighbour's garden. She is walking around, uncomfortable with these people being nearby, so I took a photo and went inside.
