My great uncles Walter and Sandy Hayward joined the Royal Canadian Artillery in 1915 but were sent to infantry battalions. Sandy was wounded and gassed, and suffered from PTSD. Walter was killed at Cambrai in September 1918 and is buried at Aubigny, France.
