It's a busy week for birthdays in the Land Band™ 🤣 Wishing a very happy birthday to our dear friend and wonderful keyboard player Brin, aka the profilic ambient composer Bing Satellites. Here's some pics of us working on music last year in West Somerset. Have a good day my friend!
And also, for what its worth, CD copies of my first album are finally available again (vinyl version coming for the 20th anniversary in 2029, so some may want to wait!) Same link for that: danielland.bandcamp.com/merch
Not sure if any of my followers are into physical merch from a marginal shoegaze artist (😅) but just in case! New T-shirts up now at Bandcamp, inc. the "Dream Pop Cult Hero" fan-favourite. Some are tour leftovers, others are pre-orders (window closes Monday!) Link: danielland.bandcamp.com/merch
My new single, ‘Snowdrops’ is out today. It's a very personal song about mental health, recovery, and a turning point in my life. It’s also the first single from what will be my next album. All proceeds go to Intercom Trust, supporting LGBTQ+ people in the South West. 🎧 Links to listen below
“Snowdrops” — a new single about mental health and recovery. All proceeds to charity. Out tomorrow (10 April) on Bandcamp + all streaming platforms. For the full story when it drops, join my mailing list or follow me on Bandcamp—links below.
Not sure how many Dream Pop / Shoegaze fans are on here, but in case you’re nearby: I’m taking my full band out for two shows in April—Holt, Norfolk (Saturday 18) and Manchester (Sunday 19). Tickets from danielland.co.uk — I'll post some links to my music below!
Really happy to share my new song "Snowdrops" gets its first play on BBC Introducing South & West tonight ⭐️🥳 8pm on BBC Radio Cornwall, Devon & BBC Sounds www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m... A deeply personal track—the first glimpse of my next album. Huge thanks to BBC Introducing for the support ❤️
A wee personal reflection on the album "Milk & Kisses" by Cocteau Twins, which turns 30 today (at least in the UK), and on what Elizabeth Fraser’s lyrics meant to me as an isolated rural gay man in the mid-1990s: danielland.co.uk/home/blog/77... #CocteauTwins
Second of two ambient albums I announced this weekend, and something for the Eno fans out there: a longform, 15-hour variation of the generative "A Secret Cove" composition that I released last year under my ambient side-project, riverrun. Details here: riverrun.bandcamp.com/album/a-secr...
For any ambient fans, I announced a couple of ambient albums this weekend: first up is the latest album by my droney guitar alias "Alan Lidden" (an anagram of my name!) here: alanlidden.bandcamp.com/album/the-no...
For any shoegaze fans out there! I’ve just announced my latest release: a limited-edition 7-inch "Concept Single", exploring desire and queer middle age, inspired by writers like Forster, Burroughs & Ginsberg in North African locations, particularly Tangier: danielland.bandcamp.com/album/pearl-...
Rehearsals, birthday edition, and band Christmas gathering. What a lovely day.
There are worse places in the world to be putting the finishing touches to an album, that's for sure 😊 In all the many years I have been coming to West Somerset, this has been the sunniest and loveliest autumn I can remember.
One of a series of atmospheric photos shot by Naishu Shah of myself and the band performing live at the Victoria, Dalston, London, on our spring tour last year. Not long until we announce some more shows 😉
Lyric revisions/ Finishing touches / New textures Excitement levels building as I get towards the end of a large project 😀
Devastated to hear that Edmund White, my favourite author, and the chronicler of a generation, has passed away at 85. I’ll forever be grateful for his work. #EdmundWhite
"On Wishing a Happy Birthday to my Ex-Boyfriend". A poem I wrote, yesterday.
Happy Record Store Day! 🎶 Some pics from our Holt Vinyl Vault gig in Norfolk last year. Fingers crossed we'll be back for a full evening show soon! If you're in Norfolk, check out Andrew’s store—he’s keeping the true indie spirit of RSD alive, away from all the hype. #RSD2025
The second draft of my book is done! Elevator pitch: it’s a memoir about surviving homophobia & depression in the 1990s with the help of literature, good friends, and the Cocteau Twins. (Now it goes into a virtual drawer for a few months rest before I start a final draft with fresh eyes...)
Sigourney Weaver in "The Tempest": Early reviews were brutal; it’s either improved or the backlash was overblown. Impressive production actually, and Prospero’s final scenes were unexpectedly moving. Good, cheap tickets remain still—100% worth seeing in London. #SigourneyWeaver #TheTempest
