Today is the 100th anniversary of the birth of master filmmaker Andrzej Wajda. He gave us “Kanal,” “Ashes and Diamonds,” “Man of Marble,” “Danton” and “Without Anesthesia.” He made movies that were uniquely Polish and world class.
It will be easy to miss the infectious songs of #NeilSedaka. His ingratiating personality also made watching YouTube during the pandemic a joy. I loved how he’d sheepishly admit to cribbing a passage from Brian Wilson or express heartfelt gratitude for an award. His joy was contagious.
A certain movie turns 50 today! Congratulations to the Seahawks and Bad Bunny!
It was delightful to finally catch Jiaoying Summers’ set at Funny Bone tonight. Her frank humor is quite the antidote to despair.
I think I can pick up on the joke. I’m reading The Odyssey and think she was far better in “Inglourious Basterds.”
