At New Road Worcester today! Over 55’s cricket #cricket #Worcestershire so far so good 😉
Great to see @norfolkbirding.bsky.social this weekend and @tg42birder.bsky.social today on his patch. The Black-winged Kite performed this afternoon, much better in flight! Eventually settled but distantly. Hobby was nice and then we did your Little Tern colony! Superb and so many! #Norfolkbirds
Is it due to loading 5 pics? Prob restricted to 4 but it didn’t say no! @cliveaderbys.bsky.social @willowglass12.bsky.social
Called at Kings Mill pits near Aston this morning. Highlight was adult Male Marsh Harrier, + 6 Herring Gulls, 12 LBBG, 8 Little Egret, 34 Cormorant, Hobby. Few hirundines - it’s changed a bit since the RRS there. Then Belper where the farmer kindly flushed 2 Quail - I dread to think re nests ☹️
A few new for this Matlock garden last night - Scorched Wing, Scalloped Oak, Bordered Straw and what I think is Square Spotted Clay #mothsmatter @mothiduk.bsky.social @cliveaderbys.bsky.social @willowglass12.bsky.social
Up above home tonight was lovely out of the days heat. Curlew, Tawny Owl, 3 churring male Nightjars, Woodcock and squeaking young Long Eared Owls. Bliss 😊 @derbyshirebirds.bsky.social #derbyshirebirds #PeakDistrict
Some new for the Matlock garden Moths first - Ghost is a favourite, Common Heath, Scallop Shell and female Pale Tussock #mothsmatter @cliveaderbys.bsky.social is Ghost picked up your way?
@kneppwilding.bsky.social today with Charlie - a Fathers Day treat for the weekend. Purple Emperor and Hairstreak showed well as did Turtle Dove and of course all the Storks! What a place to amble round and soak it all up 👍 back tomorrow for the day with more to find….
Ingrailed Clay plentiful last night but a few to check….Thistle Ermine? Which Pug? Homoeosoma Sinuella? All Matlock #Moths @cliveaderbys.bsky.social @willowglass12.bsky.social
Some lovely walks round me and the sun eventually came out for butterflies. Clough Wood had 2 male Pied Flys feeding young, 2 pairs Redstart feeding fledged young, displaying Tree Pipit and Garden Warbler feeding young in the nest @derbyshirebirds.bsky.social #Butterflies in short supply
Manchester airport run gave me the chance for Owls in the Peak on the way back. Shorties near Buxton & Tawny there too. Moved on to a farm for 2 Barn Owls feeding young & young Long Eared begging for food. Adults didn’t like the breeze much. Little Owl near Monyash back home and a nice pint 🍻 5 up 👍
Pride Park orchids in Derby are going well with plenty of Bee and Marsh right next to the Stadium @dcfc.co.uk #Orchids glad to see the mowing regime give them a wide berth
I see you have the top two voted for 👍 I’ve just read Orchid Summer and the Sixty Year Butterfly Odyssey on holiday which are both worthy of inclusion 😊
A few Moths knocking about last night. Don’t get many Ingrailed Clay but there were 3, with a few more I enjoy including Iron Prominent, Silver Y and Green Carpet #moths #teammoth #Derbyshire
The catnip is booming and it’s attracting some nice fresh Painted Lady to the garden 👍 @ukbutterflies.bsky.social
@dougaston.bsky.social I’m trying not to send any tricky ID’s this time my friend! 😂 the Butties won’t hold still apart from Small Copper but the White Ad here is stunning. Great holiday reading too 👍 looks like it’s warming up for our return too 😬
Heads up - White Stork just flown over Longcroft Ave Dronfield heading towards Chesterfield is best I have. A friends house. Just in case! @derbyshirebirds.bsky.social @richardttaylor.bsky.social @willowglass12.bsky.social @belperbirder.bsky.social @shefbirdstudy.bsky.social #UKBirding
Matlock Forest tonight - 3 traditional Nightjar sites checked but none present. All areas have grown significantly this past year but new areas have been felled so checking those next. Woodcock, TOwl, Cuckoo, Curlew, Stonechat family. Very few Moths 🤔 @derbyshirebirds.bsky.social #mothsmatter
Bird race day ended with a hardy Nightjar churring in poor conditions! Though no midges 😉 2 Woodcock also. Other personal highlights inc 8 Tree Sparrow at two sites, Gropper, Whinchat, Crossbill, Cuckoo, Goshawk from my area. The count up will be in full effect! #PeakDistrict
Slaley Moor this evening - Redstarts, Lesser Whitethroat, Garden Warbler, Song Thrush all in good voice @derbyshirebirds.bsky.social
Green Winged Orchids in Notts today - what a show! Fab area covered in Cuckoo plant and Lady’s Smock too. Red Kite, Raven, 4 Whitethroat, Yellowhammer too. Muntjac and Hare in the same fields, with Simon. #Orchids

@shaneyoda82.bsky.social This morning above Matlock! See what I mean about speed? Male Emperor Moth. It landed for 5 seconds only so quick change to camera for dodgy pic below… @cliveaderbys.bsky.social @willowglass12.bsky.social @richardttaylor.bsky.social
