The thoughts, writings, and musings of an old soul.
Blaidd. He’s the embodiment of the knightly spirit, its strengths and its flaws, and ultimately, its tragic conclusion. The contradictions within his being were what made him a compelling character, and what made losing him so devastating. Any better ending he deserved he threw away for his duty.
Asgore. His character arc across both games are grasped easily enough, but the execution across both games are among the best examples. Tragic (and fatal) self-destructive tendencies. A loving father prone to the lure of violent catharsis in the face of injustice. Hope for him lays beyond himself.
Normally, Jean stands at 176cm, an average height for a person who is content to blend into the background. When his other side manifests, however, he rises to a height of 200cm, adding to a very conspicuous visage. This would make him self-conscious, but changing forms indicates bigger problems...
2026-7 will probably be one of the best years in gaming; there was something for pretty much everyone in the slew of titles and expansions announced!
Saw this making the rounds and figured, why not? One of these days I’ll give Huxian a proper introduction.
grids.fun/t/about-me-v... I had a bunch of retro and childhood nostalgia games that felt rather niche for most audiences today so I went with more recognizable titles
Factory strider and Baltaeus being some of the best AC6 fights is only further confirmation that a redux Spirit of Motherwill faceoff would go insanely hard in the current FromSoft era
Probably self-explanatory for anybody who knows, but Clifford Tibbits is as close a fit as any!
If you see this, repost with a game that released the year you were born
Selections from the Modalius, a clan of turians I’ve had written about for many years now Zylar and Providentius, Council Spectre and Hierarchy Fleet Admiral respectively Fenriux, Providentius’s twin and tactical officer Koter, combat pilot and exchange officer with the Systems Alliance
Apparently today is tiger day. Good excuse as any to post Huxian. Art is credit to the ever-talented @relay314.bsky.social!
I'll always look upon my first experience with a BioWare title with great fondness. Archetypical of its format, with quirky characters and big plot twists to make the player character larger-than-life, I appreciate their take on the Star Wars story as a perfect setup for deconstruction by its sequel
Probably the best D&D adaptation into a videogame to date! A great entry point for folks who want to dip their toes into interactive storytelling and the ways in which player choice and compelling characters can alter the direction of an unfolding narrative! Very fun class building mechanics, too!
Despite my difficulties getting into its jank and how late I've come to this installment of the series, it remains my favorite to this day. No other entry comes close to the sophistication of its setting, writing, and depth to its gameplay. Really hoping ES VI will draw inspiration from this classic
Hot take, vastly underappreciated sequel to the trilogy. Beset by bugs, jaded fans and a botched development cycle, its strong worldbuilding in a fresh setting offered so much opportunity to bring Mass Effect into exciting directions that I still admire. I still hope BioWare will pick it back up.
Kai Leng. Subpar boss design, scripted difficulty (that is to say, nonexistent). Motivations for his douchebag behavior are underbaked. Annoying for the fact that both his potential as a villain and the execution of his character are awfully forgettable if not for the fact he’s shoved in your face.
Kim Kitsuragi probably comes closest to someone I can identify with. Professional to a fault. Dry sense of humor. Deadpans frequently. High composure with low tolerance for bullshit. Wannabe pilot. Bad natural eyesight. Tries to come off as more cool than he actually is.
This almost doesn’t need explanation (besides my justification for playing it). Gacha slop? Immoral business practices? Mid af narratives and shallow character development in a sterilized post apocalyptic not-quite cyberpunk environment? But the gameplay is pretty solid. I have no other excuse.
Because I’ve been playing it recently, Dark Souls 2 comes immediately to mind; most of the other titles I can think up of are underrated by virtue of belonging to niche genres. It’s not as bad as what fans of the series make it out to be, and it has its own strengths that have advanced the art form
Man this is a hard one. Too many contenders, all for different reasons too lengthy to fully expound on. I’ll settle on Kreia for now. Few characters can capture the full complexity of the human condition; its virtues, its faults, its at-times noble struggles and flaws, quite like she does.
Age of Empires II. The game that singlehandedly kicked off my future interests in military strategy, medieval history, and creative world-building. Technically my grandparents had an NES with its own slew of titles but I was consistently older-brother’ed out of being able to play it (skill issue).
