Just back from a 2.5 mile walk. Not that far at all but I'm feeling a little regret ATM..
So, so glad today that I got the turbo, which wants the good stuff.. :/
Crappy weather at the wildlife sanctuary = fewer humans & wildlife closer to the path than usual. This beauty surprised me! Right there, maybe 15ft off the path. It then flew maybe 40ft away and stopped, so I took this picture..
The nearby wildlife sanctuary used to be a US Army base annex and has a bunch of these big, concrete bunkers slowly being retaken by nature.. Actually saw one with an open door today - a first!! NGL, was too chicken to look around inside. Standing right in front of the door was a good 10F cooler..
Bird day at the wildlife sanctuary today.. I predict the gosling sitting on its parents back will get cuteness of the week award.
With modern tech, it's much easier to get them to sit still for pictures!!
Spotted on a walk down the local rail trail today. Tempted to go back at night and see if it lights up..
A local feedery has the Rosemary's Baby, which is quite good, and I am enjoying one as I wait on take-out.
Lovely when the weather report puts you right on the line between "serious impact to daily life" and "extreme impact to daily life." :\
Made sauerkrout (1st time!) NYE and just gave it a taste. A tiny bit of a sulphury taste but I think that's normal. Very crunchy and zero sign of funk, which is great. Not sour enough for me, so I think it gets 1 more week on the counter. Looking forward to the result!
Determined to get good cheese.. Waited ~30 minutes in the cold to get this far and am about 1/2 away there.
I'm not getting these pastrami nachos, sadly, but I expect they'll be on my mind for some time..
Ended up wandering thru the mall today and saw this, which was too good to pass up. The very nice lady even took the last one in my size off a mannequin for me..
..and, as I walk back past this spot, I notice that the turtle-log is actually an old telephone pole. Here's another shot of the same pond, with a pole that nature hasn't taken back yet.
Getting far too much take-out, so why not top it off with the food stuff? Not that I'd really know "the good stuff" but have found that "daigingo" on the label is usually a good sign..
My local coffee fix has an area for people to put post-its.. Most (all?) are positive and/or goofy, which is nice.
