Sir Patrick Stewart, being interviewed by the BBC, is asked "What did you think of Galaxy Quest?"

I had originally not wanted to see [Galaxy Quest] because I heat that it was making fun of Star Trek and then Jonathan Frakes rang me up and said "You must not miss this movie! See it on a Saturday night in a full theatre." And I did and of course I found it was brilliant. Brilliant.

No one laughed louder or longer in the cinema than I did, but the idea that the ship was saved and all of our heroes in that movie were saved simply by the fact that there were fans who did undderstand the scientific principles on which the ship worked was absolutely wonderful. And it was both funny and also touching in that it paid tribute to the dedication of these fans.

Well, it's not a *real* castle then, is it? I mean, your average
*real* castle wasn't designed to look appealing; your average castle
was designed to scream ``I'm a unbreachable fortiment, I am, so all
you barbarian invaders and you buggers from over Klyne way can just
piss off'' from every rampart. The last thing your average *real*
castle is going to have is a big ``Welcomme to my humble home'' sign
draped across the top, small trays of mixed nuts for visitors to
nibble upon while they wait the attentions of their host, and ``do
calle againe'' on the inside of the door.

Of course it's not a *real* castle. We don't have no *real* castles,
just a couple of fake castles what were put up by half-mad Scot
settlers who couldn't bear to sleep on anything but cold stone. If
I'd've known you were talking about *fake* castles, I'd've set you
right. We've got plenty of those.

In fact, one of our major exports last year was bloody castles.
That's the trouble with Scotsmen and castles, see --- one's just not
enough. Give them one, and they get a taste for it, and next thing
you know they're off invading in Waikakapipiriki, takin' over *their*
castle, and before you know it, you've got a full-power small land war
goin' on between territory-crazed Scots and a couple of extremely
pissed off Maori.

See, your average Scot is a lot like a dog. Your basic dog, he's just
concerned about territory, and he'll piss on anything he can to get
more territory. It's the same with a Scot. A Scot'll invade anything
he can see, smell or hear simply to get more territory. When he has
sufficiently confused any previous inhabitants with his accent, skirt
and farty music, he'll built a bloody big castle right in the middle
of their town and bugger off looking for more land.

But I digress.
