$1 trillion is so much money that humans can’t grasp it. Maybe better to just say $1,000 billion?

The number itself can be difficult for humans to grasp. A study published in 2013 and based on experiments at the University of Richmond found that many people had difficulty understanding how numbers like 1 million, 1 billion and 1 trillion relate to one another. Asked to place the numbers on a line, about 35% of people spaced them "roughly equally" apart, which is incorrect. The authors concluded that it may be clearer to express a number like $1
trillion as $1,000 billion, instead.

An interesting question: Who among us would volunteer to go to Mars knowing that their life was in the hands of Elon Musk?

Kate Greene, a writer who took part in a NASA-funded simulation of what it would be like to live on Mars, said she questioned how good Musk would be at taking care of people in harsh environments. She wrote a memoir about her four-month experience, “Once Upon a Time I Lived on Mars.”

“This is the sort of thing governments, not entrepreneurs, have experience with,” she wrote in an email.

“And as the world witnessed, when given the reins to reshape the U.S. government under DOGE, Musk’s approach was to casually and swiftly eliminate programs and funding with dire consequences,” she wrote, referring to the Department of Government Efficiency and its cuts to aid programs.

Excerpt from NBC News story about the SpaceX IPO: In a section about risk factors, the SpaceX filing notes that xAI’s Grok chatbot is the subject of numerous “investigations and inquires” related to nonconsensual sexualized deepfakes, an issue that flared up in January and has continued to be a problem. The investigations could result in liability, adverse publicity or other sanctions, the filing says. Eight law enforcement and regulatory agencies told NBC News last month that they were continuing their investigations of Grok’s capabilities.
