At some point this coming week there's going to be a real life 'Downfall'-type scene in the White House when officials finally level with Trump about how the dwindling stockpile of munitions will soon make it impossible to continue the war. I'm waiting for the parody videos.

Just as I predicted, Israel is starting to look to end the war (according to the Wash Post). The problem is that Iran wants this to be the last US/Israel-Iran war, and to achieve that the war has to be prolonged, so that it can inflict sufficient punishment on Israel.

Iran is open to negotiating about its nuclear program, but Trump wants it to limit its missile program so that its missiles can't reach Israel - a completely unreasonable demand, as the NYT notes here. So Trump is going to send young people to their deaths so that Israel can bomb Iran with impunity.
The war against Iran was postponed, but it is coming. The question is: Where is the American antiwar movement? It doesn't exist. This is why I said what I said below: the US is the most dangerous country in the world not merely because of its strong military, but the disinterest of its citizens.
Actually, the protests started out peaceful and the Iranian government was conciliatory, acknowledging their grievances. But then the protests were highjacked by agent provocateurs who killed many and left quite a trail of destruction. We don't know if peaceful protesters were killed by the gov.
I thought the US new national security strategy abjured imposing democratic change in its foreign relations. The truth is that if the US attacks Iran, it won't be to advance freedom or democracy. American military power now serves to assuage the ire of Trump as much as anything else.
European leaders refusing to condemn US aggression in Venezuela is infuriating, but not surprising. Of course, it might be argued Trump has them over a barrel on Ukraine. But if defending the rules-based world order is that important, then it surely demands criticizing Trump's actions in Venezuela.

Just as I expected. Israel has started looking for any excuse to restart the killing. Here is the defense minister complaining that Hamas is not finding all the bodies fast enough and threatening action in response, even though it was understood by all that finding all the bodies would take time.

More Republicans think that it is acceptable for the president to direct the DoJ to investigate his political opponents than who think that it is unacceptable. Republicans are divided over basic ideals used to share wide agreement across the American political spectrum.
They don't really believe that Charlie was a champion for free speech, and that's why it's no surprise that he's not being honored by protecting the free speech of those who have been critical of him in death.
I have always found it striking that, despite the demographics of the island, Jamaica - unlike most independent Caribbean nations - more often than not has had light-skinned political leaders. A few days ago Hamas released videos of two emaciated Israeli hostages, saying that they eat what Gazans eat. Israelis were outraged. So, naturally (not), some Israelis decided to block aid trucks from delivering aid, because less aid makes it more likely that the hostages will be fed. Just insane.
At first, Israel and its supporters said, 'let us attack Iran, we can do it alone' (except they couldn't). Once started, they said, 'we can't leave it half-done, we have just incentivized Iran to get nukes. So you must help us.' And that's how Israel manipulated Trump to enter the war.
Trump makes a post on Truth Social about working towards a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, and 80 per cent of it is about him, and his amazing (so he says) peace-making abilities. Unbelievable.
