Crews are working at Pennyfield Lock, cleaning, shielding and lining a 175-foot encased section of the Potomac Interceptor ahead of next week’s geopolymer application. The geopolymer will help strengthen one of the pipe’s most critical sections before crews return for sliplining.

Starting the week of July 13, controlled blasting begins near Georgetown University’s Canal Rd NW entrance for the Potomac River Tunnel Project. Brief noise or light shaking is expected. We broke ground on the Piney Branch Tunnel today! This milestone marks the start of the final tunnel segment of our Clean Rivers Project. Once complete, the 2,200-foot tunnel will capture & store 4.2 million gallons of combined sewer & stormwater during heavy rain. www.dcwater.com/about-dc-wat...
