JOURNALISTS, STOP ACCEPTING THESE UNSUBSTANTIATED CLAIMS. I realize “McConnell’s office” is more letters than “McConnell,” but YOU DON’T KNOW HE’S ALIVE/CONSCIOUS. You’re so careful about ”falsehoods” vs. “lies” and what “appeared to” happen in video. REPORT OBJECTIVELY ON THE McCONNELL SITUATION.

100%. U.S. Christians have remade Christ in the image of Caesar. In the New Testament and in early Christianity, Christ and Empire are antitheses. To truly say that Jesus is Lord is to say that Caesar is not. Many MAGA Christians mouth the words “Jesus is Lord” but their actions say the other thing.
my 2015 meme probably wasn’t the first to cast Trump as Jabba but I have yet to find an older one
Spoke to my friend Mitch McConnell this morning, the senior Senator from Kentucky. He's still recovering in the hospital. We talked for just shy of 20 minutes ... about IRAN, UKRAINE, the unfolding situation in MAINE, my visit to the TR Presidential Library, and even a little bit of Senate history
Translation: “‘Disclosure Day’’s biggest mistake was not being a completely different kind of movie—one I would have liked better. One that tells me what to think, instead of asking me what I think. Who does Spielberg think he is asking the audience to do work?”
You seem like a glass-half-empty guy. You could just as easily say “I have the most favorable respect-to-deserving ratio of any president ever.” I mean. *You* couldn’t literally say that, because it’s too nuanced a thought for you. But it could be said on your behalf.
Every time I turn around, representatives of this party keep telling me “If you support rule of law and civil rights and you oppose police-state thuggery, we are your enemies and we cannot be redeemed.”
(I took the sneaker joke further and nerdier than might be expected)
Here’s an example! Do you know who this is? If so, check out the others
if we don’t test, we’ll have no cases. If we don’t talk about it, it doesn’t exist. If I close my eyes, you can’t see me.
Pope Francis, in a Christmas homily, previously quoted Tolkien’s remarks about the Holy Eucharist in his letter to his son Michael, but this is the first time I’m aware of that a pope has quoted The Lord of the Rings, let alone in an encyclical! cc @teawithtolkien.com
May I ask a question about the (much-debated!) thesis of this cartoon? I follow that “juxtaposed pictorial and other images in deliberate sequence” excludes single images, and therefore not all cartooning is comics. I’m trying to understand what counts as a “sequence.” (Maybe open to debate?) 1/3
There’s not ENOUGH weird capitalization, and it’s not weird ENOUGH. Here’s a post from Trump that I buy. No misspelled words, but short sentences—and run-on sentences constructed of short sentences—along with LOTS of Random Capitalization, ALL CAPS, “Emphasis Quotes,” and random, punctuation.
haha hey my piece got picked up by Drudge … the “four times” bit in the blurb is a little misleading, oh well
From ten years ago today, my second Star Wars Trump meme. At this point we can definitely say that the fools who follow him are more foolish. The Kleptocrat in Chief has raked in billions for himself and his family. The people who followed him are largely worse off, along with the rest of the world.
Wrong question. The correct questions are “How many ways will he try to rig the midterms, how much impact is he likely to have, and how likely is he to get away with it?”
“People like blood sausage too. People are morons.” Some days, First Day Phil Connors’ bitter misanthropy feels SUPER RELATABLE
