Patient Update: Bald Eagle 26-519

It is with profound sadness that we share that Patient 26-519 passed away in the early hours of this morning, following more than three weeks of intensive medical care.

Over the past several days, her condition continued to deteriorate despite intensive treatment and the combined efforts of our veterinary team and consulting specialists. She remained critically ill, receiving oxygen therapy, supportive treatment, and around-the-clock monitoring in our intensive care unit.

Throughout her time at Ojai Raptor Center, every decision was guided by the available medical evidence, her welfare, and our responsibility to do what was in her best interest.

Her remains have been transferred into the care of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW).

We know this news will be deeply felt by the many thousands of people around the world who have followed her journey, hoped alongside us, prayed for her, and supported the people caring for her.

Our team is heartbroken. It has been an extraordinary privilege to care for her.

We ask for patience and kindness as our staff process this loss. We are working closely with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and will provide a more comprehensive statement including additional information on her treatments and test results.

To protect our staff and community during this difficult time, comments on this post have been turned off.

To everyone who cared about Patient 26-519, thank you. Thank you for your messages, your prayers, your encouragement, and for standing beside our team throughout these past weeks. We are deeply grateful for the way Patient 26-519 brought people together through a shared love of wildlife.

Not to mention, multiple executives and board members told the Journal they believed multimillion-dollar donations translated into greater access and that if a company had an issue before the federal government that reached Trump’s attention, he would want to know how much the company had contributed. One chairman of a publicly traded company said that companies understood they were either “checked on a list, or crossed off a list” depending on whether they gave.

An outside spokeswoman for Trump and O’Rourke, Danielle Alvarez, told the Journal that Trump is the “most successful fundraiser in modern political history” and said the money would help “Republicans win big in the midterms, build an enduring political infrastructure and continue advancing innovative private-sector initiatives.” She added, “One thing has never changed. President Trump can’t be bought.”

Munchkin, a one year old gray cat, is engrossed in the task of cleaning the toes of his left rear foot while he is curled up on my chest.

This is Beaker. Beaker hates nothing more than having flea meds applied to his fur. I applied flea meds to Beaker’s fur 2 days ago, after which he sulked under the table and refused to acknowledge my existence. Either I’ve been forgiven, or he’s just cold 😆 #Beakerbulletin #cats #catsofbluesky

Beaker, our five year old, pumpkin-shaped Siamese cat, is curled up against my denim clad leg, which is propped up on my other leg, leaving a conveniently Beaker-sized space at the foot of the recliner just out of petting distance. His head is lying across my shin near my pink sneaker, with his face turned away from me and the camera. So technically, he still hasn’t acknowledged my existence. A single egg of Shadow and Jackie’s second clutch of 2026 after their first was breached by ravens in late January. One of the eagles is perched on a branch nearby (behind the nest in this POV) silhouetted between the nest and the lake far below in the light of dawn.

Munchkin, a gray almost-grown kitten, watches my hand (off-camera) because I snapped my fingers and wiggled them at him to get him to look up so I could snap his picture. He was busy inspecting the black cup holder in the console of our gray recliner sofa while standing in the seat next to me. Behind him daylight filters through a gap in the white curtains covering our living room windows to help keep out the cold. He is most likely responsible for creating said gap. Also behind him is an old sofa covered in a canvas cover which I dyed an eye-catching turquoise to add some color to the room.

Munchkins whiskers are gray, like his fur, so they don’t show up well in most pictures.

My two kitties curled up next to each other against my leg under a white down alternative comforter.
