Treated myself to some new season daffodils yesterday, and am appreciating their bright cheer on this grey day. 💛 🌼

A bunch of butter-yellow daffofils in a ribbed glass three-bulb eggplant-purple 70s vase. It belonged to my mum, is ugly-pretty, and sometimes just the right thing to set off beautiful flowers!

Tonight's classic movie watch with @cosmicborborygmus.bsky.social was 'Death in Brunswick' from the early '90s. Neither of us had seen this Australian film before, and I found Sam Neill and John Clarke to be utterly superb. Not to mention Yvonne Lawley, who I remember from 'Gloss'!

That's awful and disappointing. I'm so sorry that you provided them so much support, only to have nothing when you needed it. While we don't expect friendships (generally) to be transactional, one does hope for help when it's asked for - or at least a response!

Hard a great time visiting the Auckland store of Hard to Find with Mr A. today, and came away with some stellar finds! Two for @cosmicborborygmus.bsky.social; two for work (really just because I want them!); the rest to fill gaps in collections. Which is which? Can you tell? www.hardtofind.co.nz

Was looking forward to my osteo appointment followed by a massage today (everyone masked). Osteo cancelled last night, sick. Masseuse cancelled this morning, with flu... This is why it would be better if they masked with everyone, not just me because I requested it! #CovidCautious #ChronicIllness

Yes please! Very impressed with the tax policy from the Green Party here in Aotearoa - it'll give 96% of Kiwis a tax cut, and in this case it'll include the ones who're most in need of it! #nzpol 💚

The Green Party will:

• Address inequality
• Introduce a 2.5 percent tax on the net assets of the super-rich above $10 million. There will be an exemption for family homes.
• Implement a Capital Acquisitions Tax on assets and gifts received worth over $1 million, with family farms and family homes exempted.
• Tackle corporate greed
• Return the corporate tax rate to 33 percent for the 0.7 percent biggest corporations, like the supermarket duopoly, energy companies, and banks.
• Keep the corporate tax rate at 28 percent for small and medium enterprises, levelling the playing field for local businesses.
• Introduce a Bank Levy of 0.06 percent on the liabilities of the four big banks, like Australia has.
• Make big tech companies pay their fair share by enforcing the 5 percent withholding tax rate on the profits they send offshore.
• Reverse Luxon's landlord tax cuts and the changes to the brightline test.
• Create fair income tax rates for people earning wages or salaries
• Create a new tax-free threshold of $10,000, giving 96 percent of New Zealanders a tax cut.
• Create a new tax rate for income over $160,000.

Just had a marvellous afternoon and evening catching up with @drjharrison.substack.com, who I've known for over 23 years, but not seen in person since 2011 or 12 (so it's been a long while indeed). So good to see them!

Had a lovely burger at the beach with @cosmicborborygmus.bsky.social this evening, followed by a gentle amble. It was delightful!
