Rep. Diana DeGette
@degette
Proudly representing Denver in the U.S. House. Fighting for our environment, public lands & reproductive rights. Wife. Mom. Grandma. Dog lover.
Today, we passed another War Powers Resolution to end Donald Trump’s illegal war in Iran. This reckless war of choice has made life in America less affordable and less safe. Only 4 Republicans voted with us. The rest voted for more forever wars and higher prices.
The American people are tired of Trump’s illegal war with Iran. Costs are rising, and troops are being killed – this has gone too far, and it must end NOW.
(1/2) House Republicans just forced through their short term plan to fund the government past the midterm elections. Their funding bill had no input from Congressional Democrats and leaves open the door for providing even more money to Border Patrol.
The U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate among developed nations globally. That’s why I’m proud to once again support a bill that’s a crucial part of the Momnibus Act and will help us save moms’ lives, especially Black moms.
(1/2) Today, the House passed my bill, the DeOndra Dixon INCLUDE Project Act. This bipartisan bill is critical — it will boost research and accelerate our understanding of Down syndrome and many co-occurring conditions.
(1/2) Today, House Republicans once again forced through Trump’s anti-democratic bill, the SAVE Act. I voted HELL NO once again.
(1/2) BREAKING: I just introduced bipartisan legislation that would help eradicate hepatitis C in the U.S. If the Cure Hepatitis C Act becomes law, it would have the greatest positive impact to public health of any legislation passed this Congress.
My official response to Trump notifying Congress of more attacks against Iran: No.
(1/2) First, Trump eviscerated the FEC. Now, he’s cleaned house at the bipartisan Election Assistance Commission. On top of all this, he is hell bent on jamming the voter-suppressing SAVE Act through Congress.
(1/2) Congress passed a War Powers Resolution to stop Trump’s illegal war with Iran. Despite the pomp & circumstance for the so-called peace agreement signing, Trump has forced us back into conflict.
For 250 years, our democracy has endured through times of peace and times of struggle. And it’s up to all of us to continue working toward the promise of our country—where there’s freedom and justice for all—for the next 250 years and beyond. Happy 250th, America. 🇺🇸
The Supreme Court has affirmed what we all know: birthright citizenship is a Constitutional right. For Trump to nullify the citizenship of countless Americans was an illegal attempt to destroy the promise of what it is to be an American, and he lost.
ICE is a rogue agency. They’ve killed U.S. citizens, kidnapped people off the streets, and terrorized neighborhoods in Denver and across the country. While Republicans keep giving ICE billions of dollars, I’m fighting to abolish ICE and stop Trump’s cruel and discriminatory immigration agenda.
11 years later and, despite the bigotry, love still wins. #ObergefellVHodges
(1/2) BREAKING: My bill with Rep. Joyce, the Medicare Advantage Cost Transparency Act, has been advanced out of the @energycommerce.bsky.social Health Subcommittee!
Donald Trump & and his GOP allies don’t really care about eliminating waste, fraud and abuse in health care. While Trump claims to be cracking down on fraud, he’s commuting prison sentences for his friends and donors who were convicted of fraud.
SCOTUS just struck down a law that required firearm owners to get permission to bring weapons into private shops and businesses open to the public. This decision is dangerous and strips away commonsense gun safety regulation from legislators. Americans deserve to be safe in public.
Since the disastrous Dobbs decision four years ago, millions of women across this country no longer have the freedom to make their own health care decisions. This is wrong. And it’s why we’re fighting to protect our rights.
When there’s a pro-choice majority in the House, one of the first bills we pass will protect abortion access. I won’t stop fighting until all 50 states allow patients to access the care they need.
As the co-chair of the @reprocaucus.bsky.social, our sole mission is to restore and protect reproductive freedom. We won’t stop fighting until everyone has it.
Four years ago, the Supreme Court stripped away the right to abortion care. Since the Dobbs decision, at least 12 women have died and millions more have been harmed. As co-chair of the @reprocaucus.bsky.social, I won’t stop fighting until all Americans can make their own health care decisions.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, granddads, and dad figures in Denver whose love, support, and guidance help strengthen our families and community.
(1/2) As we commemorate Juneteenth, we are reminded that the struggle to secure justice and equality for all continues, and this work is all the more urgent now after the Supreme Court just gutted the Voting Rights Act.
(1/2) Glad to help open the 6th Biennial International Conference for the T21 Research Society. It’s an honor to welcome brilliant scientists and advocates from Denver, across the country, and around the world to Colorado.
Donald Trump claimed his ballroom wouldn’t cost taxpayers a single dime. Now, taxpayers could be on the hook for $300 million, or half, of the $600 million total cost. The American people should NOT be paying for Trump’s vanity project.
Fourteen years ago, America invested in the potential of Dreamers. Since then, DACA recipients have built careers, raised families, paid taxes, and strengthened communities across the country. After 14 years of success, Dreamers deserve permanent protections—not uncertainty. #DACA #HomeIsHere
June is Immigrant Heritage Month. Whether it’s a first generation story or an eight generation story, the United States of America is a nation of immigrants. I remain committed to ensuring that immigrant communities feel welcome and safe.
You're paying more because the guy who “loves inflation” forced us into an illegal, forever war.
This week, Democrats notched yet another win by stopping Republicans from further eroding our democracy. We were able to defeat the FISA extension bill, which would allow our government to spy on American citizens without a warrant. We must keep up this fight to secure our democracy.
