Reflecting on a morning's conversation with residents in Maidenbower.
This is a Government laser-focused on addressing the cost of living That is why Labour is making is transport more affordable for 16 to 18-year-olds. No young person should be priced out of education, employment or training.
Glad to support Unite the Union's Abuse Doesn't Fly campaign to tackle the abuse faced by aviation workers. I've tabled an Early Day Motion in support and look forward to working with the union to secure changes to protect those working in the sector.
Labour’s Employment Rights Act strengthens your rights at work. The Lib Dems tried to water it down. 🚰 The Tories voted against it. ❌ Reform UK would repeal it. ↩️ Only Labour stands up for workers’ rights. ✅✊🌹
Over the last weeks of term, I visited school gates to give parents a chance to raise any issues and share the written update below. Didn't manage to get to every school, so leaflet attached below. Thanks to Seymour Primary for the copy of their pupils' excellent creative work.
Great going out this evening on the High Street with the amazing people who make up Crawley's Police. The odd video of disturbances you see online are by far a rarity, people can feel safe using the town centre. We all have a part to play in keeping our nighttime economy alive.
Sussex MPs are ex-officio members of the University of Sussex's court. In that role, last month I visited the university to discuss the state of Higher Education funding and see the world-leading work being undertaken in their quantum technology labs under Professor Hensinger.
Since VE Day's 80th Anniversary, names of the Parliamentary community who lost their lives in world wars have been read out weekly in a ceremony displaying their page of the Houses' books of remembrance. Today, I was privileged to lead the ceremony, marking the life of 2nd Lieutenant Garnet Norman.
8 things Labour have delivered over recent weeks: 📱 Telling tech firms: block explicit images on children’s phones, or the government will act 🧠 Expanding mental health support in schools, with nearly 6m children and young people now able to get help in their school or college
As Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Wellbeing Economics, I secured Treasury agreement to discuss how research on the topic could benefit government decision making.
No child deserves to go to school hungry. That is why we are proud to say that this Labour Government has provided 10 million free breakfasts to primary school children.
Fantastic having the chance to open West Green Primary's new nursery and tour the school. Governments can put up money, but making it real comes down to amazing teachers, governors and staff going above and beyond. Seeing the work they do is always a privilege.
Real change from Labour: 📉NHS waiting lists DOWN - biggest fall in 17 years 📈UK growth revised UP - fastest growing G7 economy 💷Inflation falling again - easing pressure on family budgets ⬇️6 interest rate cuts 🇬🇧UK stock market outperforming US for first time in 13 years
Keeping up the pressure for the need to invest in the Greater Thameslink Growth Corridor. Without investment we will run out of capacity on Crawley's main rail link by 2030. With investment we can deliver a major national economic boost: sacuksprodnrdigital0001.blob.core.windows.net/regional-lon...
On Saturday, I ran a roundtable discussion for local stakeholders on the Government's proposals for SEND. The points raised from this discussion were then fed into the official consultation process. To access a copy of the report go to: peterlamb.org.uk/2026/05/19/c...
A few bills the Labour Government announced last week: ⚡ Energy Independence Bill to scale up clean British energy, strengthen energy security and protect households from future global shocks 🏥 NHS Modernisation Bill to reform health services and improve how care is delivered across the country
The Labour Government has now banned the online bots which have been scraping up driving test slots. This will help to prevent the exploitation of learners and drive down test waiting times. 👉 *Read more:* www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Huge congratulationss to Crawley College on the new Construction Hub. They've been on an amazing journey over recent years and have so much to offer students. FE is key to improving life chances and since my time as leader, the council has worked in partnership to secure the investment needed.
Polls are now closed. Thank you to everyone who made it out to vote today and to all those who have helped the Crawley Labour campaign over recent months. The count is tomorrow. Expect a CBC result by mid-afternoon and WSCC towards the end of the working day.
