That the fate of an attorney general would be jeopardized by the administration’s apparent determination to keep in place a tax deal offering a sitting president enormous financial advantages illustrated a defining characteristic of Mr. Trump’s second term: a president’s personal interest, along with public interest, is now a factor in governing.

Dear Mr. President: There's a raccoon named Jimothy who lives in my neighborhood. He appears to have a spinal disorder that makes it so, instead of the usual long body of a raccoon, he looks like a striped pom-pom with pipe cleaner legs. He is strange and somewhat unsettling in appearance, and also the cutest thing you've ever seen. That, combined with the no-nonsense way he moves through the world, has endeared him to millions. What I'm saying is, a disabled raccoon has brought joy and light to this beleaguered nation in a way you never have and never will.

I've been in Minnesota since Thursday. I have questions: 1) Why did Bluesky decide I was in Texas today? (I had to join wifi to use this site.) 2) Why would I need to verify my age to use Bluesky? 3) If age verification systems are mistaking MN for TX, how else are they fucking up?

Our stance on AI-generated music
Hi Levi!
AI music generation tools are changing how music is created and distributed. As this technology evolves, Tidal is introducing platform standards to protect artists, their craft, and inform listeners.

Here are the highlights of our new AI Policy:
Tidal will identify and tag AI-generated music in our app. Listeners will see an "AI" badge next to music we detect as wholly AI-generated.
Tidal will not tolerate AI-generated music that impersonates an artist or group, or that facilitates fraudulent activity. We're implementing automatic tools to remove these releases immediately and on an ongoing basis.
Tidal will not allow music that is 100% AI-generated to be monetized. No royalties will go to such releases, nor will AI-generated uploads be eligible for direct-to-fan sales.
We will expand these policies to music that is substantially AI-generated when AI detection technology is sufficiently reliable to do so.

Dear Mr. President: Right now, at two am Washington DC time, there is a team of people - being paid, I assume, an absolutely extortionate hourly wage - mounting giant tarps in front of the scaffolding they erected to remove the 18 letters you illegally added to a building that is not yours. Eleven of those letters were your name. I guess the tarp is meant to prevent people watching the removal, but 7000 people are watching the C-Span feed of the tarp. At two in the morning. This, Mr. President, is the 80th birthday weekend your choices have directly led to.

A fascinating and hypnotic set of looping, shifting, mutating multitracked/live-looped guitar compositions. A little too rhythmic and purposeful to be ambient, not brooding or crescendo-focused enough to be post rock, but certainly existing in a space adjacent to both.

Another New Low by Passenger Pigeon

Some of these pieces wouldn’t sound out of place as interstitials between full-on rockers on a late-period Sonic Youth album; at other times I am reminded of early Feelies tunes. Regardless of points of reference, these pieces are smartly constructed, musically interesting, and sonically engaging.

You found a rock for home. I did my best to hit your tiny strike zone, and you rewarded me with non-stop hits. Singles, doubles, but mostly inside-the-park home runs. We instituted an 8 run mercy rule, but at 7-0 you loaded up the bases, and your fourth hitter walloped a grand slam two yards over. Three outs later, your 11-0 victory was complete.
