I went to check out the 6-month Broadway closure that started today. Watch how this bus never has to stop! It's coordinated. They have done some truly incredible things with transit priority (for just a 6-month period!) and I want to see that implemented (permanently!) all over the region.
I definitely agree that the train is more comfortable, especially for that use case. Everyone's got different values re transport mode. Just surprised at this one. Clearly it means Amtrak could fill a lot more trains. A train carrying 500 people should not be in the same price range as a hired car.
Why do people ride this train when it is slower than the bus and 6x as expensive?

The GO Bus network just seems beyond comprehension. How is this just three routes? There's got to be a better way to communicate where these routes go.

The only way to make the Great Bear Rainforest any better would be to add a highway! Now all the people with a spirit bear on their license plate may actually be able to go bother them in person.
Trains in Canada are great until you're stuck walking distance from your destination and have zero agency or ability to move. We have been here for the entire time it would have taken me to walk.

Happy long weekend everyone, here is the line of people waiting for the 257 at 10:10am at Granville. It is about to round the corner at Seymour making it about 35m long. It will arrive at this stop with many seats filled, and still has to make stops after this. We need more buses.
Just HAD to highlight this chart from an article I just read. The authors interviewed 163 people who don't drive in Washington State. When asked what their biggest barrier was to mobility, this is how they responded.
Of all the North American cities studied, Vancouver's buses have the second highest variation in travel time throughout the day. This should set off alarm bells that we have a lot of work to do when it comes to making buses reliable.
