Hmm. Tiff is the only one of my characters likely to be in a bar at all, and she definitely started the fight, although not by throwing a punch. She is a trickster and Goddess of Justice, after all.

She didn’t walk directly toward our target, but I didn’t think she was trying to be subtle. As she walked, she brushed by two of the men who I’d noticed her look at while she was scanning the room. I didn’t see any immediate fallout from these brief contacts, but I had no doubt something would come of them.
She passed within a foot of the man who was destined to become a god in a day and a half, but didn’t touch him. She then made her way back to Finn and me, taking a meandering path to do so. The only thing I saw her do, other than walk, in her entire circuit around the room, was slide a phone sitting on a table about eight inches to the right. No one else noticed, as far as I could tell.
“We should go.” Tiff didn’t slow down as she passed us, heading for the door.
Finn and I shared a glance, then followed.
As we walked out the door I heard a shouted “Hey!” and something about a phone. Tiff put her hands on the small of Finn’s and my backs to hurry us along. A resounding CRASH came from the pub as we reached the car.
A moment later, a chair came flying through the pub’s window with a spray of glass.
“What exactly did you do!?” Finn sounds angry.
Tiff holds up a hand. “No, no. It’s fine. B is going to end up with a broken arm and three broken fingers—”
Finn starts to speak, still looking angry, but Tiff plows on ahead.
“—which just so happen to match the injuries that his girlfriend reported a month and a half ago from ‘falling down the stairs.’”

A little, but far from all, of the tension in Finn’s shoulders eased.
“What about all the other people in there? I can’t believe he’s the only one who’s going to end up hurt.”
“You’re right, but that’s why I took the long way ‘round the pub. There’s a guy in there who beats his dog; he ends up with a broken nose. He’s going to be out of it enough from the pain that when he goes into his house, the door won’t catch when he closes it behind him. The dog will escape and be found by someone who will take good care of him.”
“And that’s it?”
“The rest will be minor injuries that are no worse than some harm the recipient has done recently. Do you want a complete list?”
Finn still didn’t look completely satisfied. “What about all the damage to the pub? That’s going to cost a lot of money to fix, isn’t it?”
“Probably, but less than the owners have been stealing from the employee’s tips.”

Retconned is my first self-published book, and I'm finding the data interesting. s expected, the bulk of my sales are through Amazon, but not by as much of a margin as I expected. I'm curious how this compares to other folks' experiences.

From "Awakened"

A snippet from my WIP "Awakened". The text is:
Tink: Do you have a few minutes to talk?
Me: Sure. Phone or irl?
I hear a rapping noise from my bottom nightstand drawer. Really, Tink? I glance at myself and my room, decide everything is presentable, and slide open the drawer.
The instant the gap is wide enough, Tink launches herself into the air and makes two quick circles around the room before alighting on the back of my desk chair. Once there she stretches her entire upper body, wings included, as if she’s been cramped in a small space all day. She’s adorable.
“You know,” I say, “this makes me feel like your jailer—like I keep you locked up in dragon-girl prison all day.”
She tilts her head and gives me a puzzled look. “But I wasn’t in there until a minute or so ago.”
“I know, but—” This is probably not what she wanted to talk about. “Never mind. What was it you wanted to talk about?”
She pulls her wings in and wraps them tightly around herself, not quite hiding her face. How does she already have body language for this body she’s inhabited for maybe a couple of hours, total?

She lands with surprising grace, then spins around, taking in her surroundings in the light of the phone screen. She stops motionless when she comes face-to-face with her reflection in my makeup mirror. Her expression flashes through confusion, awe, and delight, then through them all again.
She reaches her hand up slowly, like she’s in a trance, and traces her jawline. Then she traces the curls of her horns. Suddenly her wings, which have been held tightly against her back, unfurl to their glorious full ten-inch span.
A happy laugh, not as high-pitched as my spoilsport biology teacher at The School would have led me to believe would emerge from a being of such size, comes bubbling out of the girl.
I can’t help it, I laugh, too.
The dragon girl spins around, sees me in the dim light of the phone’s screen, and freezes. An instant later it topples, inanimate, onto the surface of the desk.

When a stunt gone wrong leaves him trapped in a form that he knows he should hate, his attempts to prove that he hasn’t really changed leave him stranded with his worst enemy, far from home. Frank will have to choose between clinging to an identity that never really fit, or facing the consequences, and the future, as herself."

I still see people in their forties, thirties, and even twenties saying it's too late for them to transition. These two pictures were taken eight years apart. The first one was when I was forty-eight, the second when I was fifty-six, after four years of transitioning. It is never too late.
