Mostly pablum about my life in Charlottesville. Books, cats, trees, my kid | Engages in occasional academic editing and indexing | I am simply too tired to live up to my potential 🇺🇦 🏳️⚧️ 🇵🇸
I forgot to feel sorry for *myself* bc I am the one running his sullen ass around. I got this sticker at the doctor *for me*
I snuck around to ask F to get my phone and Milo started to move away but the deer pursued. At that point Milo was done but I got this one pic. 😱😱😱
A few days ago a deer who is entirely not nervous enough around people tried to stalk him …
A proud moment! I switched violin teachers in January after feeling frustrated with the first one for various reasons and I found someone at The Front Porch who is a great fit. …
8. Ichiran on W. 31st - The individual ramen booths were a great Experience, and the ramen was fine. 9. Food truck on 6th Ave/33rd - breakfast sandwiches - delish! The above were all excellent meals/snacks on our trip. The following were just fine, but nothing special…
6. Penn Station food court pizza - ideal going away meal was a slice of NY pizza on perfect crust 7. Food truck nutella, banana, and strawberry crepes in Central Park. When you need a nutella crepe, you need a nutellla crepe
4. Food truck in Greeley Square - Lamb over Rice (with fries) - the rice had such a unique flavor and there were surprise chickpeas. 5. Machi Machi on W. 32nd - Iced Jasmine Green Tea was divine
2. Veselka (Ukrainian) at Grand Central Terminal. I had their borscht and it was mind-blowingly good. 3. Peng’s Noodle Folk on Lexington/73rd - We were in need of something somewhat urgently after a long day and the ramen hit the spot.
NY food on our trip, starting with our favorites 1. Çka Ka Qëllue (Albanian) on E. 31st - this was high on my list of something completely different/unique to try and it did not disappoint. The food, ambiance, and music were all fantastic. It was also JP’s favorite of the trip. (pictured).
Our timing could not better (weather-wise; it is terrible vis-a-vis Knicks home games for the NBA Finals)
Took JP to see two of his awesome friends make their *Miller’s* debut with John D’Earth as part of the Cville Jazz Fest. I am looking forward to being able to say that I was at their very first show.
The ability of certain children to be endlessly entertained by throwing rocks and sticks and playing in the water is a beautiful thing that I hope never leaves them.
My Easter dress did not have pockets but I did thrift it from the SPCA Rummage for $6.
That is very kind. The complication is that she is a 19-yo Siamese who is so strongly bonded to my husband that she makes herself ill from stress when he is gone.
Today’s Villain Origin Story: The plows UNDID all of our work. And our road is plenty wide that they didn’t even need to do that! Cville kids ain’t walking to school because the city is working against people who are trying to keep the sidewalks clear! 😭😡
It has been 17 years since I last saw my mom. F and I left Indianapolis after visiting for Christmas in 2008, and she died in February. This was the last time my childhood home — the last time my *family* — felt like home.
We missed our own Christmas pageant tonight bc JP sick, but I am doing a dramatic reading of this classic.
This is not a commonly known Christmas song but Canticle of the Turning is 1. Lovely, and 2. Really gets to the point. It is one of my favorites.
