I happen to have all the Martha Stewart Everyday Food magazines- small enough to stick in your back pocket, themed for each month, and criminally underrated. When I can’t think of anything to make I flip through the current month’s issues and always find something. 🍽️🍜
I made shortbread because I didn’t have anything else for dessert- and I had likes, so I zested and squeezed those in, and I had pecans, so chopped and put those in. Made a lime juice/powdered sugar glaze with cream, and it’s just amazing. Like pecan pie and Key lime pie had a baby. 🍜🍽️
Celebrating the fourth as the American Lord intended, with way too much food. I managed the pineapple and shrimp then everything else just had to get put away.
They moved to Minnesota in 2023 but will happily teach your club or class about medieval music, and appear to return to the woods of Vermont regularly to frolic. More info available on their website, the last remaining Geocities page in existence: www.fyreandlightning.org/index.html
I can’t describe to you how wonderful this is. It’s basic ingredients- things you probably have around the house. But when combined with this (easy, easy) technique, it is so much greater than the sum of its parts. I hope you try it.
Eine kleine poblano- finally! I’d all but given up hope that they would ever get going, and that I’d accidentally gotten open pollinators. Phew. 🌱#gardening
Apple weather has been all jacked up lately, and I think since the changes at NWS. There is literally not a cloud in the sky, and the closest precipitation is half a state away.
Baked chicken thighs with garlic rosemary orzo (with zucchini from the garden shredded into it), a garden salad with everything that was ready to pick tonight, and sweetened sour cream with strawberries. Truly, TGIF- and TGI’m already in bed.
As @altonbrown.bsky.social once said: You’ve got to have fiber if you want to be regular, and you’ve got to be regular if you want to be happy (S5E1, my smallest child’s favorite). Here’s my Dense Bean Salad, but you can put it on anything- rice, English muffins, eggs, ice cream. 🍽️🍜
A dense bean salad is a pretty fun way to get more fiber. Luckily the garden is happy to help. 🌱🍜🍽️
It was too much dinner. Too much! I only really wanted the steak, but to justify that I had to bake cream, spinach, and twice baked potatoes and a basil tomato salad. 🍜🍽️
A quick dinner tonight, because I already had the farro made: arugula base with farro salad, topped with radishes and tomatoes, and butter sautéed salmon with dill. Grapes with sugared sour cream on the side. And a little mayo based dressing, just because. 🍽️🍜
The zucchini is the first one from my garden- a Partenon [correct spelling] squash with almost no seeds that was sautéed within five minutes of picking. 🌱 #gardening
Chimichurri chicken skewers with arugula over herbed farro, topped with blistered tomatoes and zucchini. I also made a quick sauce with mayo, a little water, a little rice, wine vinegar, and Penzey‘s ranch mix (plus more dill and a little sugar). Just fantastic, y’all come on over. 🍜🍽️
It's fasinating to me that some stores are all over the place on pricing (Albertsons) and some have zero variation (Walmart):
Behold: The Progresso Index! Here are this week's prices for an 18.5 oz can of Progresso Reduced Sodium Roasted Chicken Noodle Soup ( #PRSRCNS), per Bluesky users: www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/e...
