Indie game developer (like that movie) running Upfall Studios. Maker of Quest of Dungeons, Vizati and other weird games. 📍Portugal
I don't think I had ever seen anyone holding a N64 controller like this to use the Joystick (1st pic), seems very uncomfortable. Or maybe this is a common thing and I'm just out of the loop. I assumed everyone was using like 2nd pic modes.
this is such a cool optical illusion. you can 3D print it www.patreon.com/OOglees/post...
there was a time where you could officially install Linux on PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3. en.wikipedia.org/wik... en.wikipedia.org/wik...
Tom Cruise doing a silly/satire/dark humor movie is a nice chance of pace after all of the action ones (not that I disliked them), and immediately reminded me that I hope he also goes "Les Grossman" on this one.
Back in 2010 getting indie game sales reports for Vizati by physical mail. “I wonder how many copies I sold …. oh”. It was a rough indie dev start but it changed my career, had to do a custom engine for mobile version (which sold a bit better) and later used the engine on QoD.
16GB of SO-DIMM DDR5 RAM, something you can use on a Steam Machine, was around 36 Euros one year ago, in May 2025 (lowest ever). This particular one was at it's peak 219 Euros this March. This alone would account for a big increase on SM price, let alone everything else.
They idea of building a DIY mini-pc and throwing SteamOS in there is tempting, but even with mini cases they don't get as close, the most interesting aspect of the Steam Machine is still incredibly tiny size and silent (from what I read about) image src: www.reddit.com/r/ste...
Nice, 35 years later this is still one of the best action movies of all time.
The keyboard type and pen flipping scene in GoldenEye lives rent free in my brain because as a kid this looked cool cheesy and dramatic at the same time.
“OK RAM is expensive, but really how much profit are companies making on it?” wccftech.com/samsung...
This is exciting, although this is going hard to cast due to George and Nico unique personalities.
Triangle (2009) was a pretty interesting surprise, haven’t seen one like this in a while.
Orbitals looks so cool, but I wish it had a solo-game mode, seems to be 2P mode only sadly :(
I was told it's a reference to Ouyang Fei Fei's album "Love is Over" (1982)
almost 10 years after, today it was brought to my attention that if you play Quest of Dungeons in Japanese one of the random quotes on Game Over screen is "Love is Over"; someone had fun with this localization, I never noticed, I think it's funny and I intend to keep it.
PlayStation is killing physical games at the end of next year. I guess this means even indie games can't choose to do it on their own (Limited Run etc) even if AAA companies don't want to do it, this is so sad to see. blog.playstation.com...
Type of movies that the poster alone is enough for me to watch, I don’t even search the rating or plot.
Micron already locked RAM at high price deals for the next 5 years, because several companies have already signed to buy their future production until 2030. Yeah this won’t get any better soon.
Or GameCube with 24MB main RAM, 3 MB embedded GPU and 16 MB as I/O buffer for audio. Resident Evil 4 ran with 24MB RAM, imagine that, this whole thread is probably consuming more memory on your device right now.
And what about PS2 with 32 MB RAM with 4 MB of eDRAM. Vice City and Silent Hill were crazy impressive.
Now we have these 4 games running on Dreamcast's 16MB RAM with 8 MB VRAM and 2 MB audio RAM
“RAM is expensive we need to go back to 2D games” Not at all (even if they are great), look at these 3D games running on PS1 with 3MB RAM and 1MB VRAM
