So, I'm finally in a place to order covers for my hearing aids. The question is, rhinestones, or enamel? 🤔 I think both look great, but I'm torn between the two. I mean, enamel is great, but rhinestones sparkle. What do y'all think?
Neat little pickup for my RMC collection, solid brass bookends from I'm estimating the 1920s or 1930s. Got to make a connection with another ex-Cadet with the purchase, too.
I transitioned at 36. I'm 41 now. Transitioning has made my life worth living. Sure, I still have my challenges with health and mental health, but everything just seems... brighter. Lighter. Better. It's not too late. It's never too late.
Newest jersey added to my collection is a very special one. Final regular season road jersey of arguably the greatest pass catcher in CFL history, and without question, my favourite player growing up. The one, the only, #18 Allen Pitts! Not a jersey I ever thought I'd own! Jewel in the crown!
I wouldn't be so sure of what it could possibly be were it not for the few frames I found at the beginning of the 1948 Grey Cup colour footage that is available on YouTube. Believe it or not, the team in yellow here IS the Stampeders. The idea of there being a full film of this... Amazing.
post the best picture you have ever taken of your pet (if you feel like it):
Sure would be nice if the City of Regina would, y'know, put the information that people with veterans licence plates were exempt from paying for on street parking somewhere, instead of making it so that you have to dig all of the way into the city traffic bylaws... 🤔
So my RMC photo collecting continues... The group photo is pretty self evident as to when it's from, the 1909 at the bottom is pretty unambiguous 😂 The individual photo though, I'm not too sure. I'm not familiar with that uniform combo, but it IS another Yousef Karsh original photo...
Went to my wife's unit change of command ceremony on Thursday, and I've gotta say, I was among the best dressed people in the room! Looked like an absolute boss! 🧡 Best part is, I didn't even yell at the outgoing CO! (I *really* wanted to though...)
Don't get me wrong, Tyson Philpot is damned good. But... it's still too early in the season to say that he's going to take the single season crown from the GOAT. There's a reason the record has stood for 32 years.
So, now that I've bought an Allen Pitts jersey, I was thinking about trying to sell my Jalen Philpot jersey... The more I think about it, the less I want to sell it. Philpot has the makings of being one of Calgary's great Canadian receivers, why on earth would I sell the jersey? 🤨😂
In light of how angry some people have been getting about an Islamic call to prayer in Regina, I present to you... an Afghan-Canadian flag mashup! One of my fav tour souvenirs from my time in Kandahar.
It's because of the walk-off in Winnipeg, isn't it? 😂 Does Dolegala even know the offence?
Tinting acquired! Even kept it legal by not getting either of the front door windows done! (Stupid Saskatchewan, no front window tint... 😂)
So this is a little bit of a continuation of a thread about the most Canadian things we own. For me, it's my medals, my cap badges, my class ring, and most important of all, my poppy from Remembrance Day 2011 in Kandahar, the last Canadian service in Kandahar. These all represent Canada to me. 🍁
So I just closed a deal for what will be the crown jewel of my jersey collection. Year 2000 Allen Pitts road jersey complete with Radically Canadian patch. Pitts was far and away my fav player when I was growing up, my first Stamps jersey was a Pitts jersey. And now I'm going to have a game worn one
In terms of every day use, I think it's probably my Calgary Herald letter opener. I don't have an exact date on it, but judging by its overall style and design, I'm fairly certain it's a 1920s piece. I just think it's a cool little thing to bring the past into my day.
My assessment of the Stamps' performance to this point of the game thus far.
By contrast, every player I saw in the UFL wearing an Axiom was wearing an Axiom 3D with 3D printed interior padding. NFL helmet testing has shown the Axiom 3D to be significantly safer than the original Axiom, and while the price point is higher, I would expect player safety to win out.
Posting this a couple of days early because I will be away this upcoming week. Remembering the memory of Pvt Ryan Larson, killed in a roadside bomb attack 15 June 2011, Dand District, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. That day simply did not want to end, and remains one of the hardest I've endured. 🧡
Thinking of you like always, you goofy bastard. It's hard to believe it's been 13 years since we lost you. 2013 feels like a lifetime ago. Your death changed my life in ways that I'm still discovering, and I choose to live because of you. Missing you always, Pat. 🧡
He was a real grifter even during his college days, selling his uniforms to afford to be able to go to the theatre... (excerpt from The Stone Frigate 1914 - Royal Military College of Canada)
So, I *might* have strayed a little outside my usual area of football collecting and picked up a Philadelphia Eagles jersey yesterday. I'm about 95% sure it's a game prepped, not game worn jersey, but it IS a team issued Alex Singleton captain's jersey. Big pickup for my collection!
Don’t skip! (unless you feel like skipping it) Post you in another country. Me and a random Belgian lady in the northern part of Nicosia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in November 2011.
Today was my first time wearing medals in nearly 10 years, I attended a memorial service for those who died of service related suicide. It was a very poignant day as I remembered my good friend Pat who died by suicide on 11 June 2013. The years pass, but his memory remains strong 🧡
After weeks of trying to get new sunglasses, I *finally* have them! Maui Jim's only had two styles of sunglasses which could accommodate my prescription, but I'm pretty happy with how they look! Finding prescription sunglasses with prism and progressives is a lot harder than I thought! 😂
So... my trip to Victoria got cut 2 days short because my cats escaped from my condo... My cat sitters and spouse were worried sick, and I ended up flying home yesterday. Someone managed to scoop LaNuit and take her to a vet, and Liev came when I called last night. Happy it all turned out well. 🧡
