100% made up. The Architecture Billings Index has been below 50 since before the election—meaning every month there have been less new design projects compared to the last. We've been in a continually shrinking building economy this entire term so far.
I don't know who could pass through here and think, "you know what this needs? More economic development. Maybe some oil rigs."
It's true—as baptized members of the faith they should be called "Latter Day Saint Crickets" or simply "Saint Crickets"
Clearly they have never heard of Robert Venturi & Denise Scott Brown. We have a whole postmodern architectural movement based on a celebration of the "ugly and ordinary!"
The SLC Federal Courthouse is interesting architecture and beautiful in its own right—don't @ me
"Maybe we should create safer road conditions for people who aren't in cars? No, it's the kids on e-bikes who are the problem"
This is my Slow Watch—it's a 24-hr watch with one single hand that rotates once per day. Each tick is 15 minutes and based on the positioning it's easiest to estimate the time to the nearest 5 minutes. It's a reminder to slow down and don't sweat the seconds and minutes!
The United States fails families every day by not providing a national paid leave program. We are the only so-called "first-world" country that doesn't.
"The ban on protesters wearing masks is an appalling double standard in a state that allows invading federal agents to hide their identities."
This is a job posting based in famously-affordable Chicago for one of the top firms in the world. A senior architect position requires 10-15+ years of experience (on top of licensure which on average takes 12-13 years).
As someone who had to move from a relatively walkable neighborhood to a non-walkable one because of affordability, this hit home.
Meanwhile, the CURRENT administration is openly repeating the exact same lies about the so-called harms of racial amalgamation on official government social media accounts—but don't call them racist either.
Has anyone at the NYT considered that Trump's supposed anger was just a performative lie? The media's insistence on taking a compulsive liar's word at face value EVERY TIME is infuriating. The willful inability to learn or adapt to your subject is disqualifying as a serious journalism source.
Kind of hard to see (also I don't want to dox myself with family info on the lower end), but this is a diagram of one branch of mine that goes back through Scandinavian kings to about 100 BC and beyond. Each row is a generation, and I've just opened one of the branches that keeps going back.
