Quite the fancier of podcasts, chemistry & science history. Favourite element: Ta. Previously award winning brewer. Also home brewer. Outsider in Cumbria.
Most of the jobs done, but if I don't have a beer now it'll be too late. My #homebrew Citra Gold.
Get a life, maybe. One that isn't completely dependent on the actions of people you'll never meet, playing a game thousands of miles away.
Just arrived at the coast to catch the last spec of the setting sun this evening.
I'm having my photo taken tomorrow for the company website, so it's soon to be public knowledge. This is my walk to work now.
Got up early to get out on Derwentwater this morning before the day tents, barbeques & boom boxes take over the launch point.
#Homebrew Citra Gold this evening. All Citra hops in the boil, then in the fermenter. Some acid malt to give it some tang.
A Love Lane NZ Pilsner this evening. Tastes exactly as you'd imagine; dryish & with hop flavours like peach & kiwifruit. Glad I bought a few tins of this from Home Bargains a couple of weeks ago - this is the last one.
Not a drop just down the road here, but a nice rainbow like thing to the northeast just now.
This feels too much for me here in Charlie Alpha Thirteen, so I'm in awe at the folk who have to do stuff further south today - like Ulverston or Kendal.
I could see a sundog was forming an hour before it did. Then it turned out to be very modest indeed.
Last of the sun behind the exit point of the river Derwent from Bassenthwaite.
I'm interested in making a beer with this, but not so interested that I'm prepared to spend the best part of a day making 12 litres of something that.migjt have to be donated to a rugby club for bet drinks.
Only the 2nd bottle opened of my Citra Gold - & then only 'cos I needed the US-05 yeast though. The acid malt used has really boosted the sinkability of this 100% Citra hopped beer. I forgot to put the Irish Moss in at the 20 min before end mark, so its hazy still.
I've opened only the second bottle of bretted, cherry wood smoked, crystal rye, red ale this evening.
Now *that's* a rolling boil. #BrewDay today is 44% RedX malt, 56% pale malt, Cascade hops in the boil, Cascade hops pellets in the fermenter & US-05 yeast. This is a beer for a camping event in four weeks time.
I know what you mean. I opened the bedroom window at 00:15 in the week to get more fresh air & saw this noctilucent cloud in a gap between the regular clouds. Obviously I'm not a professional photographer & I didn't want to disturb the family.
Black Combe with a neat hat made of cloud on it this afternoon as seen from Ravenglass. Normal Cumbrian weather has resumed.
Picked this up in a Morrisons in Bolton earlier in the week 'cos it's #ThingsYouCantGetInCumbria. It was definitely worth a quid & if I was passing again would get a few.
Jennings beer in a Jennings glass, being drunk just up the road from the brewery. Not a bad drop either. Brewed to celebrate the reopening of the brewery as an independent & brewed again for its 1 year anniversary last weekend.
