A bit cooler tomorrow (but still humid), especially north of #RVA; tomorrow's severe threat will be confined largely to the far southern/southeast quarter of Virginia, down by Emporia to Virginia Beach
Smoke showing up really well on latest visible satellite imagery, especially across southwest Pennsylvania and much of #Maryland. #Wildfires
New line of storms has popped up just south of #DC, sliding east but also expanding northward a bit, should reach Nationals Park in a bit
Big storms from Colonial Beach southwest to Beaverdam and Ruther Glen rumbling east-southeast towards Doswell, Montross, and maybe Tappahannock in a bit; nothing severe, just heavy rain and lightning
Seeing some really intense winds on radar about 11 miles west of Stafford, near Goldvein, VA headed towards 95 between Aquia Harbor and Falmouth. #VAwx
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for northern Virginia in Maryland until this evening and a severe thunderstorm warnings and effect for Damascus Gaithersburg and Germantown Maryland
A few small storm cells scattered around west and northwest of #RVA this evening, none particularly severe, other than some flash flooding potential given their slow pace.
Finally seeing some storm cells showing up now on the west side of #RVA (West End, Midlothian, Winterpock) moving slowly north-northeast
A few weak storms are working their way eastward into #RVA in the next 15 minutes; nothing severe but there may be some lightning that might delay the @gosquirrels.bsky.social game a bit.
This heavy storm cell is moving south-southeast towards Colonial Heights/Petersburg and Hopewell, bringing heavy rainfall rates with it. I expect we’ll see additional flash flood warnings soon further south of Richmond.
A few smaller storms may make their way into western Henrico and western Chesterfield in the next 30 to 35 minutes if they hold together
A few more storms out there from Stafford southwest to Louisa and Palmyra, moving slowly east-northeast. Probably will bring some showers to Goochland and western Hanover and Caroline counties in the next hour or so.
Severe thunderstorm warning for Dahlgreen and northeast King George County and extending eastward just south of La Plata #Maryland; wind gusts to 50 mph and hail possible
Our first storms of the day have arrived on scene between Winchester and Culpepper, moving slowly east towards Warrenton and Brandy Station. Nothing severe at the moment. Additional storms will likely pop up around western and central #Virginia this afternoon/evening.
More rain headed our way later this morning through late afternoon, but not likely to see severe weather this time, except perhaps over southeast #Virginia (Suffolk, Williamsburg, etc.) where there’s been no cloud cover so far.
Storm arrival times for #RVA; raining really good in Midlothian but no crazy winds so far
New severe thunderstorm warning from eastern Hanover County, out to Tappahannock, Heathsville, King William, and Saluda. These cells haven’t shown much sign of weakening as they speed east with lots of lightning and winds to 60 mph
Tornado warning for northwest Charles County in southern #Maryland until 6:30 (see image)
