1/ today i learned about Sicily's current flag, which features a strange face in front of 3 bent legs. the flag was adopted in the year 2000, and is similar to a previous Sicilian flag (Sicily has had a number of flags over the years), as well as the flag of a mid 1900s Sicilian separatist movement

4/ i also did one about local italian-american mutual aid societies (incl. ones my ancestors were part of) i'm taking a little break lately, but there's more to come. i've gotten to collab with some great folks-- @alexxkittle.bsky.social , chris strunk, pat falco-- and it's been amazing
3/ i'd made a lot of zines before, but this idea of studying past subcultures was new, and i got excited about it-- so i ran with it. some titles were about the vibrant 70s grassroots political subculture in boston. others were about punk spaces, and underground DIY arts.
