Last day of the Strathclyde Optical Microscopy Course & during @hannah-superres.bsky.social’s seminar on Smart Microscopy, one slide advised that we & AI should all aspire to imaging as well as @christlet.bsky.social. Or perhaps encode his brain into AI? Either way that’s the bar been set ….
Representing @mvls-srf.bsky.social while attending the fabulous & full on Strathclyde Optical Microscopy Course 2026 making sure my knowledge base is up to date with lectures from experts like the legendary Brad Amos among others.
This juvenile Seagull has been hanging around our building the past couple of days. Yesterday I encountered him out front clearly fascinated by his own reflection. Today it was asleep in the middle of the ramp to the car park/loading bay & only got up (grumpily) & out of the way as I cycled past.
As proof of his man of the people ethical stand - a photo of the hand dryer in the men’s toilet in the Crown & Treaty pub, Uxbridge.
I would recommend you feature Count Binface’s campaign. Begun to encourage voter turnout “Make your vote count!”. He is doing a stand up job of making our Trump-lite goon look like a buffoon. Helps’ his alter-ego is an articulate educated journo/author/comedian. His manifesto is also spot on.
Not if the same quality but (again taken to convince my daughter in Scotland that fireflies are real) Wolfe Island, Ontario Canada
The moment I realised my daughter has matured. When she says she’s working on her dissertation (before start of 4th year) … & she’s actually working on her dissertation. Meanwhile she’s honing her print skills @ the phenomenal @dcadundee.bsky.social & protesting proposed cuts to Dundee Uni.
One of these is a plastic representation of an owl/raptor. The other is a bird that just doesn’t give a f*ck.
Last summer in Wolfe Island (near Kingston Ontario) sent my (very Scottish) daughter a movie of the fireflies. I have since discovered 1) she thought it was AI & that 2) Fireflies don’t really exist (so in the Princess & the Frog Disney movie Ray the Cajun Firefly was the most unbelievable part).
Snap - I used to think the kids were arranging the pillows for the dog until I came down one morning & watched him arrange the pillows to his own satisfaction using his mouth & paws.
Listen, I know Thermo are in a bit of trouble at the moment with the whole ‘manipulated data images for Ab’ thing, but really I don’t think diversification into the realms of pseudoscience is the way to go. Apologies to @punkrockscience.bsky.social but I couldn’t directly reply to their post.
For a brief moment the front of our house is a spectacular bloom of flowers from our Clematis. Well worth the pain of traipsing fallen petals into the house for the next few weeks. Also the birds love nesting in it.
UHU Glue - if feels like it’s the Art Teachers’ equivalent for Parafilm for Scientists.
Sadly I think the current occupants of the US administration would neither understand the humour nor see the association.
I see your snow in Canada & raise you with the after-effects of a (marble sized) hail/ice storm in Marrakesh, mid April (2 days before it was 30°C, 4 days later it was 32°C).
Actually I think I’ve figured out what Trump was trying to channel in his pseudo-Jesus post.
If you’re getting trolled by the Daily Star you are in serious trouble. Mind you this only works if the Pythons had meant ‘Naughty Boy’ to mean ‘narcissistic sociopathic orange skinned douchetard’. Any insight @ericidle.bsky.social?
Seriously - he can’t think anyone is buying that excuse. So he is either demented or an idiot. Or both.
