Draw More! 🇨🇦🏔🎨😎
@doryr
Love to draw (especially mountains), eclectic interests, strange sense of humour. I try to capture the way light and shadow reveal images.
It’s interesting how different mountains can look, depending on time of day or season. This one is a view along the Icefields Parkway. Ink and watercolours. #natureart #mountainart
My favourite castle in Canada. Casa Loma in Toronto. Ink and watercolour.
The Green-tailed Sunbird for July’s BirdWhisperer challenge. Beating back the heat with art supplies - sweet. #birdwhisperer @birdwhisperers.bsky.social
Another piece of scrap cardboard sacrificed to portrait practice. Too hot to do much besides drawing!🥵
Have you ever visited Niagara Falls? I used to find it hypnotic to watch the water roar over the lip of the falls. I wondered what ever drove those people who rode over the falls in barrels…but it’s a frighteningly alluring view. #niagarafalls #natureart #watercolour
I have been watching that knitting competition show - I never learned to knit, so it’s kind of magical to me. Inspired me to draw “Knit one, purr two” though.
The best known bear (arguably) in Banff National Park is the “Boss”, my subject for fur practice today. #banffnationalpark #bearart
I couldn’t resist using a scrap piece of cardboard to try a little larger scale drawing. This is Moraine Lake (about 70 cm wide and 40 cm tall). #banff
Looking to the left of the glacier, I think they’re called Mount Athabasca and Mount Andromeda. Watercolours. #IcefieldsParkway #mountainart #nature
I went back to the sparrow drawing to play with some colour washes…rainy day amusement. #birdart #natureart
Welcome Weekend! Had to draw Castle Mountain again this week, just for the fun of it. #mountainart #natureart #Banff
We see so many birds in our backyard this spring. In addition to sparrows, chickadees, blue jays and finches, we get a northern flicker now and then. He loves to peck at the vents on the roofs, which sounds like a machine gun inside!
I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone claiming a fish as a spirit animal. Hmmm. (Pigment pen drawing) #natureart #fish
Rocks after rain (or the rocks and the hard places I spend so much time in🤪). Pen and watercolour washes.
I think I prefer colour washing over ink drawings, but this one is just watercolours. #CanadianRockies #mountainart #natureart
A watercolour practice sheet done today, Plus an ink drawing version done from the same photo many moons ago. Castle Taufers in Italy, if I remember correctly. #watercolourart #castleart
Been a busy week, so yesterday I grabbed a pen and piece of paper and proceeded to soothe my mind, for a short while. Best therapy I’ve found. #natureart #rocks
Mount Yamnuska in Alberta, drawn with pigment pen and watercolour washes. #mountainart #wolfdogs #inkart
Another Micron drawing of Moraine Lake in Banff National Park. #natureart #mountainart
10Years of gorgeous birds…happy anniversary #BirdWhisperer !!! Here’s a quick pencil sketch of this month’s gyrfalcon.
Illustration of a sulfur-crested cockatoo based on July’s Bird Whisperer reference image. Looking forward to seeing all your cockatoos!
Sometimes I just draw random stuff with the intent to use it as a Thank-You card…then I generally think of someone I want to send a thank-you card to. Funny how that works… #inkart
Since it’s snowing, I guess it’s okay to put out some holiday decor. This plaque is newly made - paint just dry- chickadees being sociable!
