Everyone is revisiting "In the Mouth of Madness", but may I suggest also taking another look at Carpenter's previous film - "Memoirs of an Invisible Man". It's better than its reputation claims it is, and Sam Neill is a great villain in it.
"Verify your age". I was born in a country that ceased to exist 35 years ago.
Looks like work to get "Harvester" supported in ScummVM had commenced.
MER Adventure: Climbing/MER Climbing (Multimedia Innovative/Falcon Bryggerier, 1995) #DOSGaming
Huh. Somehow I only just learned that OPL-3SAx drivers have a built-in software MIDI synth that I think is sample based.
At $995, an equivalent of $3,100 today, this was a *budget* printer back in the day. 😅💸
People say they miss all kinds of sounds of computers from the past. Hard drive noises, floppy disk noises, dial-up modem noises, etc. But does anyone miss dot matrix printer noises? 🤔
I gotta say, I've never tried Microsoft Internet Explorer Starter Kit CD until last night, and it turned out to be pretty impressive. It's 300+ megabytes showing off everything the Internet was capable of in 1996. A very nice demo that would save you actual precious online time. 💿
Stan LePard wrote that a version of Velkommen shows up as one of world fly tour themes in Microsoft Encarta Virtual Globe 98, but in the program there's only ONE music for flights & it's not it. However, a remix of Velkommen does show up as the North America tour theme in Virtual Globe 99 (1998)!🔊🎶
Here is Velkommen's original appearance. "Microsoft Internet Explorer Starter Kit" from 1996. It's a 14.2 meg WAV file that plays via a frame in a webpage. 🔊🎶
You know what? I have no idea. That is how Stan himself described the products it was used in when he uploaded the original version. I did hear that it was a part of basically unused OOBE feature at some point, so I would need to investigate further.
"Velkommen" by Stan LePard. 🔊🎶 Few people might recognize it as the Windows XP installation music. Even fewer might know it from either Windows 98 Home Edition or Internet Explorer Starter Kit 3.0.
Thanks to SDL3 officially adding DOS support there's now a fully functioning port of "Lego Island" (1997) for DOS! github.com/isledecomp/i...
Even after all these years I still find the fact that something like *this* was on the official soundtrack of a version of "Sid Meier's Pirates!" incredibly amusing. Only in the early 90s. 🏴☠️💿🔊🎶
Watched the Postal doc. It's alright. Well put together, but pretty much exactly what one would expect. Basically a Running With Scissors puff piece where the entire company is represented by Mike J & Vince. Doesn't touch on gamedev. RWS been around for 30 years, so maybe it's worth celebrating.
