Exactly! Justice Jackson EXPLICITLY & EXPRESSLY discussed that in her concurrence—which is a thing of beauty. She knew she was writing for history. While the majority opinion is law, I believe her concurrence will be what’s cited in 50 & 100 yrs for how to interpret the *purpose* of the 14th Amnd.
I first read that line in Dangerous Women years ago & thought it was good, but it wasn’t until just re-reading it in Fire & Blood and knowing what LM said to the Queen that I got it and I got that he knew who had done this.
KBJ understands the nature of the treatment of Black ppl here as a subordinated caste & the intent of the 14th Amndt not just to protect Black ppl as a racial group but to abolish caste systems altogether. I can’t urge you more strongly to read Caste (which she cites) to get the importance of this.

I want as many ppl as possible who were dumb—I mean “misled” enough to vote for Trump/not vote to come out & vote against him/his regime. And I’m down for whatever we gotta do for it to happen. I care more abt actual electoral victories that save actual ppl than empty moral victories that help none.
